Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That is an Osprey, some call them Fish Hawks. That nest is at the northern end (closer to the bike shop) of the pond just north of Bristol harbor and Poppasquash Rd. I saw one bring a huge fish to the nest a couple of years ago.
I'll be the goo in my new Hi Vis yellow jersey.

Yep, it's been the same around here as well. Good to know others have to suffer like us Pennsyltuckians.

I really dislike this kind of weather, just sucks the energy right out of me. I've been riding really early in the morning to avoid the sun because that feeling of breathing in very hot air isn't pleasant.

I did 125 miles with a heat index of up to 107 in the swamps of north Florida yesterday. Just drink a lot.

We have had dew points pushing 80 F recently. Can you imagine real fog at 80 F? It is not pleasant.

It has been so humid that I wouldn't doubt that when the USGS collects river gauge data around here the error bar is in 10's of meters.

downside: it's so hot and humid that I'm not inclined to ride more than just "base" type effort right now. upside: no racing in the near future means this isn't a bad time to be riding "base". Plus I'm getting more heat acclimated, finally.

if you want to brag about humidity, I'd suggest using dew point. It's a much more reliable indicator than relative humidity, which is relatively (see what I did there?) meaningless by itself.

You should see how much he overshadows me in person. I'm changing my legal name to "Hi Bailey!" No one ever says "Hi" to me. He stops traffic.

I rode the cycling portion of the NYC triathlon today! 25 miles.

But actually, it didn't seem hot. Maybe I'm just getting used to it.

Bailey gets free snacks at the bike shop too! He doesn't get free snacks.. I don't get free snacks

(only did the 52mi route instead of the 81 today.. it was a wise decision)

I hate people from California so much.

As a side note, be aware of which bottle you grab to dump on yourself. I poured HEED all over myself earlier and didn't realize it till orangey goodness was pouring down my face.

We have been hitting 95 with around 85%-90% humidity. I don't look at the heat index because it scares me lol.
