Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great stuff. I really liked the pic you took from inside the tunnel. Looks like you put a frame around the picture. Nice touch!

Thanks for the pics and organizing them. My wife and I cycled in Tuscany and Alba a couple of years ago and loved it.

Bikeforums needs more of this and less "Which bike should I buy?" or "Shimano or SRAM?"

i never wear a watch on a proper ride. too many chances to f it up if i crash.

besides, that's why i have a HRM and/or computer on my bike.

anyway, watch can be found in the last pic (the one with the peroni).

Tuscany is fantastic, isn't it? Siena is one of my favourite places on the planet, but Lucca is charming too. And Italy is full of wiry old guys with a gazillion miles in their legs who can still sprint up hills and make me feel that the best is yet to come. Fabulous. Great pics, too.
