Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Know anything about Vuelta wheels?

Thinking of replacing my stock Aksiums with a new set of wheels and came across the Vuelta Corsa Superlite wheels on Nashbar. Anyone have any experience with them?

I haven't used them, but unless you're doing a lot of climbing I doubt they'll make that much of a difference.

From what I've read Vuelta wheels are decent for the price, which is usually pretty low when you're comparing to other wheels with the same numbers (weight, rim depth, spoke count, etc.)

that's about what I got from it too. the aksiums are great but don;t seem to roll very fast. dunno something just feels weird with them, like they start to slow down or something. i saw the vuelta's at nashbar and figured they'd might be a good shot @ $550 compared to the ksyrium sl's @ performance for $700, which for the ksyrium's is still pretty cheap compared to the normal $1000 they go for.

o well guess i'll keep looking. thanks for the reply though!

I have rolled Vuelta Corsa HD's and Currently roll two sets of Zerolites on my MTB/cross beast. All I can say is that they spin so well I don't notice how heavy they are. A solid deal, but if you have $550 to spend, go with Psimet.

I have a pair of vueltas. I initially bought them to replace the stock mavics on a cannondale and they were without a doubt a huge improvement. But since those are the only wheels ive ridden I cant tell you how they compare to more expensive models. Looks cool though.

I have a set of the Corsa HD's on my road bike and love them. I'm a bigger guy (220lbs) and I had busted 3 spokes last year alone on my stock Shimano wheels. They always went out of true as well.

Got the Corsa HD's on nashbar this spring for less then $200 a set. They are a bit heavy, but roll very nice. I have around 1k miles on them so far this year (tour fully loaded with 30lbs, a few Centruies and Metrics) and they are still perfectly true as the day I got them.

Oops, sorry...just a recommendation of Neuvation wheels. I bought the Vuelta from nashbar on sale for about $250, they were great until I got the Neuvation wheels. If you really want the Vueltas, be patient as they may go back on sale for 50% off.

Just checked out those neuvations. Look pretty good but wonder how they compare to the Aksiums? Just another option to add to the 100's of wheels I'm trying to choose from!

The superlites tend to come in about 70 grams heavier than claimed I believe.

which ones did you get? Thinking of getting the R28X Aero. Can't beat it for the price and have been getting great reviews.
