Cycling injuries are the worst!!!
So yeah...I cut myself shaving the legs yesterday and took a decent chunk of skin out of my ankle.
With that in mind, what's your story relating to cycle injuries?
Tell me your most recent injury?
Worse injury?
Most hilarious injury?
Ok GO!

Here is my injury story:
Well, I don't have any bloody pics....but... I just got into Road biking, got my bike this past Wednesday. Went for a short ride to test bike. Everything great. Then I went out with my buddies on a 20 mile ride. At mile 11 I decide to NOT pay attention and crash straight into my buddy. Locked my right arm at the elbow on the straight part of the handlebar. The arm took all my weight going into his at about 10mph or so. I dislocated my right shoulder to the posterior (towards my back). Tumbled over the bike, did a roll on the concrete, popping shoulder back into place, and landed on the grass. No damage to either bike, I don't know HOW we managed that. It took me a good 10 minutes to get over the pain and call the back-up ride off. Got back on the bike and completed the ride. Today (2 days later) my shoulder feels like its been pounded with a sledgehammer but the x-rays show no crucial damage to rotator cuff or ligaments. Just gotta sling it for 1-2 weeks. Brand new bike just sitting there... I wanna ride!!
TL;DR First ride out for first time road cyclist, crash, dislocate shoulder. 1-2 weeks off bike.
Nice to be here at BikeForums.net!

My spill pics. Unfortunately, she didn't get any good ones of all the holes in my shorts. Then again, I doubt anyone really wants to see my ass.
and that cut on my wrist is from my RoadID bracelet. This was my only major cycling fall and the most recent. Others have come at slower speeds that did little damage but I've had my share of spills on ATVs.

If you don't mind me asking, how'd you get the chainring to cut you on the outside of your leg?!

I had one really bad fall in about 1978, sorry no pics. The result was a broken collarbone and about a pound of road rash that had to be removed from my right knee. Fortunately, my wipeout was only about a mile from the nearest hospital so I got attention very quickly from two separate sets of doctors. Once they were all done, the fellow who worked on my knee handed me a pair of crutches. I asked him how I was expected to use them with a broken collarbone? He laughed and showed me to the door.
The bill for the crutches came in the mail the following week.

How about worse injury, now, broken femur, knocked off my bike by two dogs. Hilarious, I laid in the road unconscious for 30 minutes in 105 degree heat.

I've wrecked at over 40 mph and all i got was a bit of mild road rash, but the worst injury I got was a concussion from having a deer bolt out and sideswipe my front wheel when I was going about 25 mph. Before I even had time to think the second word of, "OH ...!", I was flying over the bars.

About a month ago, 40kph rain slide across two lanes, back tire sliding out on streetcar tracks. Took it almost to the muscle, hair may never come back, it was that deep.
Worst one was breaking my cheekbone by catching a high speed staircase handrail with my face when I blew the 90degree turn in the stairs.

My worst one came when my front brakes hit the spokes on the front wheel. Don't ask me how it happened. Last I remembered was flying over the bars and hitting the ground with my whole body. Laying on the ground for a few seconds until I actually felt the pain. To my surprise, nothing was broken in my body (I was 15 at that time), but the bike was screwed up.

Level 5 AC joint separation (ie, separated shoulder: tore all the ligaments). 2.5 hour surgery to fix it, with 3 months recovery time before I'm allowed to do anything other than ride on the trainer.

Was going fast on an old 10 speed as a teenager (maybe 15 years ago) - started going 'no hands' stupidly and ended up getting too close to an old 'boat' of a car. The solid sideview window on the drivers side stopped me instantly and I flipped hard over the front of the car. The entire impulse was in a small section of muscle in my right quad, just above the middle. To this day I have a noticeable 'dent' in my muscle in that spot.

Fresh Garbage
well, my right knee is totally f-ed after a few falls with direct impact. My funniest was while riding my fixed gear when my pants caught the bottle cage, I could no longer pedal and just toppled over to my side.
and then there's being rear ended by cars

I had my rear wheel clipped by a car which turned right while I was going north of 25 mph. I took the entire impact on my left ass cheek and fractured my sacrum in the process. Tomorrow will be five weeks since it happened and I'm still in pain.

I am currently recovering from a crash that happened 3 July. Going down a long hill, 40+mph, a dog ran out in front of me. I think it was maybe 2 seconds between seeing the dog and hitting it. Broke my shoulder in four places, at least three ribs, a thumb, bruised my hip badly, and road rash and bruising.
It has been seven weeks and the doctor hasn't cleared me to go back to work or ride outside yet , but I have been riding the rollers for three weeks now and trying to not go crazy.

I don't go down often, but I do remember one from about twenty years ago. I had just finished a 21-hour stint in my lab and was riding my old fixed-gear home. I came across a large puddle and decided to just jump it. Unfortunately, I forgot I was on the fixed until just before touching down. I did manage to clear the puddle before landing mostly on my arse. All I could think of was, "I'm so glad it's 2:30 A.M. so no one is around to see this." A few days later I could use all the fingers on my left had again.
