Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

25 cm on BMC SL01?

Anyone running 25 cm on their SLO1?

Thinking about putting on some Gatorskins.

Seems a little tight in the rear triangle, but looks like it may work.

Thoughts?

For your information, tire width is measured in millimeters (mm). 25cm is close to 10 inches.

everything you could ever want to know about tire sizing names.

If you don't feel like reading it, "c" used to refer to a width, but now it's just all road tires are either 700c or 650c.

25c should fit fine. One little detail, what it will happen with a flat?

The flat tire will touch the chain stays for sure, that's the detail. So is better for you stop right away or the chain stays will get scratches in the paint.

Really? I thought a flat bike tire looks round -- that is, round everywhere around the circumference except where it's flattened against the ground.

Depending on the type of tire, it will get flat like a fettuccine, 23 mm tubulars when flat touch the chain stays. 25mm for sure will do.

I haven't heard of Gatorskin tubulars, though...

Ah, unless the OP was thinking of getting these:

... but they don't come in 25's.

Look --

The OP asked about 25mm Gatorskins.

They don't make 25mm Gatorskin tubulars.

Why bring them up?

You should be fine. Clinchers aren't known to flap around all over the rim like a noodle when they flat; they just get smaller.

I've been thinking of doing 25's on my SLX, but I have some 23mm Michelins that are still in the packaging. But, they're yellow, because the original order was for the yellow-and-black frameset; what eventually came was the red & whiteversion, though. I wonder if my LBS will take them in trade for the red tires..
