Is 2010 CAAD9 Worth It?
Is a CAAD9 frame worth decking out? I see myself riding this bike for the next few years, but I'm wondering if it is worth it to put SRAM Red, and then continue to upgrade from there.

Yes.
I have a 2010 with Red that will soon be getting some new wheels as well. It's an incredible bike and 80-100 miles is no issue for me, even on a Fizik Arione saddle. I also look at it that if I ever decided to get something different (looking at Lynskey in the fall) I have great components to swap over too.

Thanks. I guess the more appropriate question would be is it better to get the CAAD9 stock, and save money until I can afford maybe a carbon, or is the CAAD9 good enough to serve a long time and invest a large deal of money on.
I have ridden a CAAD9 from LBS, love it, and they have a frameset in the back I would love to buy and build up, starting with Red.

It's worth building up with the best of whatever you want to put on it. Then you can ride it forever, or for several years and then buy something carbon and still keep the Caad for variety. You can't really go wrong wih the caad frame, only making poor build choices.
Good luck and post plenty of pictures!!

Caad 9, by far the best aluminum bike frame ever. That said, I made a mistake of buying a bike that met my needs at that time a year ago, and quickly wanted something better. If you are planning on upgrading soon, save the money and buy yourself a bike that you cannot possibly upgrade any more than your needs. I find it extremely difficult to sell parts, then upgrade and sell more parts and upgrade. But that's just me.

I guess that is true, the only reason I was thinking Red is due to the fact that I will not be able to upgrade for a while, and I figured of all the things to upgrade, the grouppo would probably be the one.
