Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great blog by BSNYC today

Very appropriate, given some of the "doesnt deserve his bike", "looked like Lance so I dropped him" and other reverse-gear-snobbery that is often posted here.

I have laughed pretty hard reading BSNYC; especially when he rags on the fixies.

I dunno, I think the Mash wallet is pretty good for $7.50. My baggies rip and get messed up easily by anything pokey in my pockets like keys, CO2 head etc.

Much a do about nothing if you ask me. I see what he's getting at but in the end what does it matter what someone spent on a bike and whether they're maximizing it to its potential? I think buying bikes for the well-to-do uninitiated cyclist is probably akin to buying a car for them; they walk into a shop and tell the sales person they want something with good features and that is comfortable. The sales person sensing the ability to move a higher end bike sells them a bike that fits the bill and off they go to storm the MUP. I don't know how many of them are under the impression high end bikes will improve their performance but the reality will hit them soon enough.

I was disappointed with today's article, more snark would have gone a long way.

I laughed at the MASH wallet. My wife keeps trying to find me something to put my phone, ID, & money in. I use a Ziploc which usually lasts about 2-3 months. She thought it looked kind of white-trash. She hasn't bought my explanation that a Ziploc is the perfect solution and would be hard to improve upon.
