I thought we could not stack on top of the stem? if do we just have to keep the stem in reach of the expander?

The SAVE stays are different in their interior tubing profile, also. They do make a difference, in the ride comfort, from the older straight gauge tubing stays. Thins stays are in with the taller head tube trend that is looking to fill the demand for the Endurance type of frameset. Most stays seem to be the thinner type or the wishbone/monotube stay type these days, I prefer the thin SAVE type and the curved compliant tubes on the Synapse or the Zertz insert of the Roubaix line look like a good idea to me, They do ride very nicely on our rough road surfaces here with its large stone aggregate on the asphalt medium.
And you Gulf Oil Racing haters need to appreciate the look more, I love mine.

My beloved CAAD10 was stripped a while back by bike thieves. Lil' turds jacked everything except the frame/BB/Cranks/Rear wheel.
Don't have the funds for a fork as of yet, but I'd like to know what rake I should be looking for. I have a 48cm frame. The Cannondale website list the rake as 50mm, but I've read another discussion where another person getting a fork stated that the website is incorrect on the rake info.
Any Caad10 48cm owners know if the rake is 45 or 50? Thanks!

The manual says not too, but it's probably ok to do it briefly while you're working on lowering your stack to slam the stem. I know I gradually worked my way down for about a month before chopping the steerer and had no issues.

Hi! I'm new to the forum and have been road biking for about a year (switched from mountain biking) but have been perusing the awesome CAADs on this forum for about a year prior to and after purchasing my own CAAD last summer. Learning lots from you all. Just recently took my bike in (for the 2nd time since its purchase) to have a creaky BB looked at 
Here she is:
- 52cm frame (stock stem and handlebar)
- SRAM Force groupset (105 cassette and chain)
- FSA SLK seatpost
- Reynolds DV3K 46mm wheels
- Shimano Ultegra carbon pedals
- weight unknown
I apologize for the crappy white balance on the camera...

sfu, welcome to the Roadie/CAAD world, very nicely set up CAAD you have there. The BB problem has been raked over the coals for over a year, I never had the problem, thankfully. Most agree that the use of the green Loctite adhesive solves the problem, along with greasing everything well and assembling the BB components correctly. If the shop doesn't lick it go to the Cannondale web site and find the Technical Bulletins, there is a BB30/PF30 notice and directions on how to install and which Loctite product to use. You can find references and fixes here with a search, including this thread over the last 2-3 years. Glad you finally stopped lurking and joined up.

I'm a new CAAD owner! Just picked up a new 2013 CAAD8 2300 yesterday for under $600. The LBS that I went to had me hop on their GURU machine and then got the Cannondale set up according to the results. My initial test ride (done in a sunny-but-chilly 34 degrees) was so comfortable and inspiring. Considering my previous ventures into road biking (old Trek 1000, KHS steel commuter, very old Cignal steel Montego), the CAAD8 feels like a rocket ship and the 2300 group is probably better than the decade-old Sora group on the Trek.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend's metric century ride!

Thanks Bill... I've been following the creaking BB discussion quite closely on this forum. Unfortunately I don't have the proper tools to pull the crank and disassemble the bearings. This latest episode has prompted me to acquire those tools though.
SpeshulEd... Its SRAM Super Cork bartape. I find them quite comfortable riding gloveless, especially in comparison to the stock white bartape that the bike came with.
