Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There is no reason to mess with your BB unless there is a problem. Having the shop take it out/reservice it runs the risk of improper reinstallation, which would defeat the purpose - BB30 is notoriously finicky. I have gone over two years/10k miles without touching the bb.

First, make sure the noise is coming from the BB. If your crank isn't spinning freely, definitely get it checked out.

Cheers. It's the first noise I've heard out of it, and a friend on a (much older) Trek had to completely replace his bearings not too long ago, so I got a bit worried when it started up yesterday. I'll monitor over the next while.

I've decided. In order to get a new bike I am going to have to ride my bike so hard a weld prematurely breaks. #getsome jkjk lol.

I am really liking that green and black synapse though, and if there is a caad10 like the green evo paint scheme I am hoping ship to the 2015 caad10.

No intercourses given about the brake preference with a cexy paint job like that.

Just joined the club! 2013 CAAD10 2

I've been following this thread for some time now and checking my local Craigslist regularly. We'll the stars aligned for me last weekend and my wife gave my the go ahead to buy. So far I'm loving it! It's definitely as smooth of a ride as everyone claims. Now time to get my engine in shape.

Regards,

SoulPro

That's a good point but my reason for going powder coat is that it is cheap and I'll probably just go the boring all black route. I'm talking about doing this to my 2005 CAAD7. If I was going the paint/clear coat route I would want custom and not something you see every day.

I did get some quotes from local custom painters and whoa.....for what it would cost to get a custom job with a couple clear coats I could get a brand new CAAD10-3. I got quotes as high as 2 grand. Of course they said they could do something basic for a lot cheaper but why do that?

The quote I got for going with either a matte or glossy black powder coat was $150 and that included the sand blasting, he said if I wanted a really glossy finish he could add a coat of clear over the powder coating and everything would come out to $200.

I snagged this out of the "Show us your Cannondale" thread. This CAAD8 was powder coated matte black. To me it looks so much more modern than the before pic. Again, not my bike, just an example.

Careful with the sandblasting. Those tubes are very thin. I'm not sure how they would react to the heat treating of the finish either.

Thanks for the heads up man, and I will be honest in saying I am not educatd on the subject. I have seen some really nice PC jobs done on bikes but I would hate for mine to be the mishap. You have me nervous now, I was really considering pulling the trigger on a PC job in the next week or two.

Got back Monday from riding with my brother in the mountains around lynchburg, va this weekend. Ive had my caad9 for a little less than two weeks now and I'm in love. It was my first time away from flat eastern nc and I was pleasantly surprised at how well I was able to do up there. That bike rides like a dream and helped me keep up with him on his caad10.

Still no pics though because I'm too dumb to bring my phone with me to take pictures in some of the pretty places we rode. Maybe I can get out for a ride around here this weekend if this hurricane doesn't make the roads too messy.
