It's weird that the Dura-Ace chainrings have a simpler looking design than the Ultegra. You'd think the design would get more complex as you go up...

Ughhh I know! After 4 consecutive workouts on the trainer, I was able to make it out to the park this morning (before the rain started), and it was like heaven. I later got stuck in the rain while walking to work. Yay.

Thanks for the invite, but I am supposed to go out on 9W with my team tomorrow, after the races (will not be in those, but am attempting my first crit on Sunday...hoping it merely ends in hilarity, not tragedy). I'm in the city, and still (impatiently) kickin' around on my Spec Dolce, so perhaps we can make it happen some other time!

To weight wheenies it's a heavy wheelset. I'm a clydesdale so I needed something strong and beefy. These are actually lighter than the stock RS10s though. Lighter and a lot stronger. I'm also using 36 spokes front and rear. If I get my weight into non-clyde territory over the next couple of years I'll probably build up a cyclocross bike with these wheels and buy something more weight wheenie friendly for the CAAD9.

cool, i've taken 9w once with 2 other guys on this forum a while back. was supposed to be a bigger group but just us 3. im not on any team or have ever raced. what team are you on if you dont mind me asking? i looked at nyvelocity and sids bike club... or the crca? just dont think i could ever compete in such a crowd! good luck with your race! let us know how it goes and yes pm me when time permits.
Anyway, to answer your question, I just joined up with NYVelocity at the beginning of the month. I didn't think I was anywhere near fast enough to race, but I emailed the team to ask how fast I would need to get before joining, and they had me come out for a few rides. NYV in particular is pretty focused on rider development, so they're happy to take someone who's not super-fast but is willing to work, and provide that person with a training plan.
Hope your ride was pleasant today! It was gorgeous weather for it!!!

yeah it is BB30. The Hollowgram is a little too expensive. I have read wheels are the way to go but you think the better option is a crank. CC has a deal on a 2011 SRAM RED crankset for $399. Is it ok mixing 105's with SRAM?
The DA chainrinngs look tight! Much cleaner and smoother.

And thanks. The DA rings are awesome. I'm thinking of trying a set of black DA replacement rings just to down down the silver.
