Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Easton wheels bring it to 16 lbs. Speedplays are on the way, saddle is Fizik Ares TT saddle. Everything else is stock.
Haven't weight mine yet. Waiting on my Mavics.

Psalm, I like the paint job on your Caad8. An alloy white seatpost and white saddle would go nicely for a transition from black in front to white in back. Either way it's a sharp bike.

Same exact thing happened to me. I had my heart set on the Allez Apex. The CAAD9 5 would not stop starring at me. Took it for a ride and bought it. So glad they had one.

I came across a '10 CAAD9-5 while I was waiting for my '09 CAAD9-7 to be built up.
BB30 and 105...very tempting. If it would've been BBQ, there'd be no hesitation in me buying it.
But damn it was tempting as all hell. I remember standing there thinking:
"I could have it painted, yeah, that's it, I'll have it painted!"
Doing all I could to justify buying that CAAD9-5 right there.

Okay, so I think I know the response but quick question. The CAAD9 6T or the Synapse 6? The price is basically the same and I'm new to the road but have been riding the MTB a few hundred miles on the roads each of the past few years and would like to start doing some charity rides and longer distances so any advice is good advice. Can you guys share your thoughts?

Thanks,
Paul

For the type of riding that you say you want to do
(SURPRISE!), I'd say the Synapse is the best choice.

It's designed more for comfort, where the CAAD is a more aggressive rig.

Then, riders (and bike rags) began to put a positive spin on all this: i.e., 'dales transfer power directly, and such nonsense.

The various lies of cannondale marketing were exposed over time:

a. 'dales are super light bikes (not any lighter than other alu bikes with similar tube dimensions)
b. superior power transfer (not really: some flexibility ensures energy rebound through each stroke)
c. big tubes must be super durable: actually their tube walls were super thin, hence more easily dented)

What's really bizarre is how this forum in particular has fallen into groupthink labeling this bike as some sort of superior value. It's a niche bike, which serves certain riders well (heavy riders, crit mashers), at the cost of serious deficiencies in the eyes of other types of riders (lighter riders, century riders, riders who don't want to feel a pebble shaking their innards).
What do you ride you hater?

THANK YOU FOR THAT PIC!

Now I know how great an Edge 2.0 fork will look on my CAAD!

And you got a crankset that was born to be on a CAAD.

Very, very nice indeed.

Ugh, I love my 9 but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to buy a 10 at some point. Just too sick looking and the frame weight...yummy. Will be interested to hear more ride reports comparing it to the 9.

Isn't Cannondale own by Dorel or Merida which also owns a bunch of others like Mongoose and Schwinns? CAAD frames are prolly coming out from the same asian plant as Trek, Specialized etc. I don't get it.
The old Cannondales were nice though. Nowadays, it's pretty much the same with everything else. Different paint schemes and component choices. But whutevah. I like their Touring bikes.

Yes. Cannondale is now owned by Baby Stroller Manufacturer Dorel.
And Dorel does own Pacific which owns Schwinn and Giant
and Giant makes bikes for Specialized, Trek and Bianchi.

I noticed how much more the CAAD10 looks like an entry-level Trek 1.X Series with the tapered tubes now.

Re. Giant: incorrect, that is unless there's been a rather industry-shattering takeover recently?

Nice.

I missed riding my CAAD9 the last month of the summer because I was building it up.
Now, I'm riding it practically everyday.

Does anyone know why Cannondale decided to redesign their frames and use tapered tubes now? The lines on my 2010 Caad9 looks so clean and straight. I'm not sure if I like the tapered tubes or not. Is there an added benifit I don't know about?

Not bad first try. I think bike wise, only thing is you need to cut the steer. Picture wise, you have a long ways to go, and it starts with a white garage door.

Beautiful bike though. I'm totally jealous. I called around the local shops the other day and only one place has a 10 in stock, but they haven't even built it yet. Supposed to be done this week and I'm gonna go check it out.
