They've already built a carbon bike that can compete with aluminum when it comes to durability (EVO).

Exactly. Im looking for a CAAD 9, and would prefer one to a CAAD 10, should I look for a Cannondale.

Get rid of that saddle cover, get rid of the plastic cassette disk and it looks like your cat eye sensor is mounted upside down

You sure? i thought folks here were complaining about the quality issues of the CAAD10's as compared to the CAAD9's?(9's being better)

Im not asking to be a jerk, it's a serious question. I thought others here questioned their durability as well, now that they're being made/manufactured in China?

Well, some are "assuming" that 10's are automatically better than 9's even though they haven't even been out for a year. The 10's haven't been around long enough for any reasonable person to state "what" they are. The only thing they are is brand new and in their first year production. I've read of chainstay failures, BB30 failures, but (as stated previously), it's in it's first year of production and it's normal for those things to happen.

The CAAD9 has a proven track record with years of development behind it and it is undeniably a great aluminum frame.

IMO, they are 2 different beasts. One is another mass produced Asia-built bike from a Canadian company, the other was hand crafted in America.

We all know how good the CAAD9 was. We can't know how good the CAAD10 "is" until it's been around for at least it's 2nd production year when all it's kinks (if any) have been worked out. It could turn out to be better than the CAAD9. But only time will tell. The 9 is loved by many & hated by very few (and they're a loathsome fraternity).

Again, I love the CAAD10's looks. It reminds me so much of my Trek 1.5 with it's tapered-tube design and it seems that it was based on the SuperSix EVO (which I'm hoping is the godsend it's represented to be). I am hoping it will carry on the legacy left off by the CAAD9. I believe "in" Cannondale. I want them to succeed. They are one of the few manufacturers still producing great entry-level aluminum frames (although the only thing that makes a CAAD10 frame "entry-level" is it's cost. I think it's crazy hot engineering-wise).


Give it at least 2 years before you absolutely make up your mind without your actually "owning" one.

The SuperSix EVO is built in Asia and it's supposed to be the bees knees.
It's actually supposed to be "as strong" as an American Made CAAD9.
If it is, that's my next bike for sure!

I really don't get the bitterness towards the 10. So what if its made in Taiwan? Would you feel better if the bike was made by an Asian that is an American citizen, or do you prefer the bike to be made by a pair of "white" hands. I have yet to hear of any failures from the CAAD10. I've looked at 9's and 10's side by side...the 9's welds are not any cleaner. I swear the guys saying the 9 has cleaner welds are making it up.

"Quality" come from quality control...and that in the end comes from Cannondale.

Alot of the bikes I see on here are set up more like comfort cruisers than aggressive riding. I bet if there was some random test with a whole bunch of bikes with the names covered up, 99.9 percent of the guys hoo haa-ing over the 9 will not be able to tell the difference.

There a small handful of guys that post here which I consider to be credible...and 2ndgen is not one of them.

Lol...what exactly does that mean?? Are you implying that the Super Sixes are some how softer than the CAAD9?

Saddle cover stays until I get some biker shorts and perhaps a new saddle. Plastic cassette disk is already gone. Cateye sensor was installed at the bike shop. Seems to be working but I'll take a close look at it. $100 + Bucks for a decent saddle and $50+ bucks for some biker shorts. What have I gotten myself into?

My first road bike and I am so glad I went with a CAAD.

2011 CAAD8 105
Have only changed a few bits on it so far:
Ksyrium ES, Conti GP4KS, and 105 pedals.

There's no doubt this thread was a definite influence in my purchase. It's certainly not as nice as all of the gorgeous CAADs posted here, but I've been very very happy with it to get me started. Just looking to improve myself first before I move on to a better overall setup. Also, please forgive me if I have made any newb mistakes

Thanks Shuagster! Just came back from an early 30 mile ride that morning (thus the lights) and car was parked at the top of a really steep hill at the finish. Chain lives on the big ring 99% of the time. I just got caught
