Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

LOL Okay...That's a chance I'm willing to take. That's why I bought this frame in the first place. I don't want to wreck a $2000 frameset. At least with the component group it's impossible for everything to break at one time. Besides, the Di2 derailleurs are supposed to be more durable than the mechanical ones. Also, the MSRP on Ultegra Di2 levers isn't even $100 more than Rival levers. We're talking ULTEGRA Di2, not Dura Ace. The price of Ultegra Di2 is more than reasonable to risk racing on.

If you can afford to replace it and it makes you happy, then go for it.

The Caad10-4 (rival version) left me incredibly disappointed. Not only did they downgrade the crank (Force -> Rival), they also raised the price by an extra $200!!! WTF! Like sure they now give you some crappy Fulcrum wheels over the old RS10 but most people would be replacing the stock wheels anyway. Sigh. That said, the raw aluminum Caad10-4 is f'ing STUNNING. If only the paint job can justify the extra $200 and the replacement of a Force crank...

Can anyone persuade me in getting one?

The crank downgrade is to a lower line SRAM S500, not Rival. Very disappointing move by Cannondale. I hate to say it, but I think there are better buys at that price.

It's not even a Rival crank? Oh wow.. huge turn off. Sigh.
Lovely Caad10 EvenKeel. Is there a reason why you're it with 105s?

Originally had a 2011 black CAAD 10/5 (105 groupset) that developed bottom bracket issues that were eventually addressed via warranty. I had always wanted the white frame, which was unavailable in the 10/5 spec. Given limited availability of white frames, LBS was nice enough to obtain a white 10/3 (ultegra), full bike, which they stripped down and rebuilt with the parts from my 10/5.....hence, the 105 groupset.

Frankly, I saw no benefit to upgrading to Ultegra from 105 to save a few 100 gms. Despite what folks say, a properly tuned 105-5700 shifts just as well (and crisply) as Ultegra 6700. I opted to put my funds toward 3T bars, stem & seatpost.

In spite of being equipped with a "heavy" groupset, the bike as pictured (pedals, cages, computer, light) weighs 17.4 lbs with a 58mm aero wheelset.

Not upgrading to mechanical ultegra leaves the door open for Ultegra Di2, down the road :-)

Looking fresh EvenKeel! You need some more practice wrapping bars though! Well..on second thought, they look pretty good except for the ends where they are taped.

On that note, I can't wait to finish my caad 9 build! The anticipation is killing me. I have a Rotor 3D crankset and Stronglight CT2 chainrings coming in on Monday. Other than the bottle cages, that will officially be the first part that goes on the frameset. I also have a Prologo Scratch Pro saddle and another set of PRO Vibe bars, but I need to decide on a seatpost and stem before I can get it all on there. An Ultegra Di2 upgrade kit is next on the list, but I'm waiting for the kits to start showing up on eBay because I refuse to pay full price for it. I'll be sure to post some pics once I get the crankset on there.

I agree 100% I have 105 shifters as well (one step under 5700) and I have maintained them well, they still shift very crisply and have put me through two seasons of racing. That's not to say if I see a set of 5700 or 6700 shifters at a decent price that I wont upgrade, but I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I would like some opinions on whether white rims would look good on a gloss black CAAD 10. What do you all think about these Hand Built Bladed 24 spoke 30mm Aero V Wheels? Are they good for the price, or should I purchase another set of wheels? If so, which one for around $100?

The wheelset is being sold on eBay for $114.97 shipped: https://www.ebay.com/itm/390357276665...ht_3501wt_1344

The black version is also available for the same price, but the stickers are yellow: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wheelset-Roa...ht_3641wt_1344

All input, comments, suggestions, answers, would be greatly appreciated.

Those are very heavy and somewhat anonymous wheels - I'd avoid and check out Neuvation (www.neuvationcycling.com). It's hard to find good wheels for $100 though; Neuvation has a deal on their M28X aero's: $59 for a 2011 front, add another $150 for a 2012 rear and you've got a wheel set that is ~400g lighter and probably stronger for just over $200.

I am not sure how much they cost in the US but Shimano RS30s can be had in white. I think with the white bits on the ends of the stays and forks, white wheels should look good. If you are into that sort of thing you could also fit a white saddle and bar tape and the wet white Ritchey stem and seatpost look nice too.

I love it. I would have guessed the weight would be lighter considering the build. I heard the Ultegra build out the box is in the 17 lb range.

What's up Cult.

I have been "lurking" since I broke out.
Been keeping an eye on all the magnificent rigs you guys have been posting.
I was super tempted to post, but I decided to be strong an stick to my "BF Sabbatical".

Anyhooo...here's my CAAD9 with a few new "tricks" for your viewing pleasure.
Weight is at 16.57lbs (working on that to get her to that 15lb range).

Buen Provecho'!

16.67lbs before Praxis Rings & Far & Near Bolts:

16.57lbs after (28g+ gone):
