Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's what I thought.

Here's where I am at: I've test-ridden a 2013 CAAD10 5 and loved it, so I am saving for one. The CAAD8 with lesser components is obviously more affordable and it is tempting me. I just need to be patient, keep saving and get the bike I want.

CAAD8s are prettier I don't think the 10 comes in the red/black scheme

I love the caad8. I test rode one before I got the 10s and the only reason I didn't buy it was when I got back from the test ride, the shop employees just ignored me. I waited and waited for them to get around to me but I finally just turned around and left. I swear that I could have left with the bike and they wouldn't have cared or noticed.

I like the feel of the CAAD10 more, it's a bit livelier and stiffer (both good things when you're a 210lb sprint-loving rider like me). Basically, doing anything under power felt a little more responsive. That said, the 9's ride is still just as good as ever...just not as good as the 10's. Feel free to disagree

Lenny,
Which level CAAD 10 do you want the colourway choices for? I got a complete 2013 catalog from my LBS and it has the various colourways listed by model. I'll be glad to look up what you need to know. I have been told the website has some errors in it, I have not looked at the site to say if anything is different.

I appreciate it. I have said it before and will say it again, I put a lot of research, thought and time into choosing every piece. Nothing was just put together, everything had a purpose. I love my bike and feel that a simple compliment of someone also finding my bike pleasant to look at is rewarding and validating. To me, it is one of the the biggest compliments when someone gives props, so thank you very much!

Nick's bike is just a CAAD in a tuxedo
JK...It's a fine machine, he did a great job with it, one of the only none CAAD's that never get's questioned in this thread.
I have to get an updated pic of my CAAD7 up here, I have not done much really though, new bars (fsa wing pro compact) and new cables and housings.

I'm not looking for any, I just got a 2012 BBQ 105
But looking at Cannondale's website and what I often see for sale by other online shops as well as what people sell independently on ebay etc
there is certainly a lot more colours schemes than their website.

Seems you'll have to change your signature. "Eventually" doesn't apply any more

And IMO you're welcome here (it's a "CAAD", isn't it?) - but you might not want to post that pic - with the rear rack - anywhere near the '41'.

I have a rack that I mount only when doing rando rides of 200 miles or longer. It clamps onto the seat post - and with the CAAD's standard aluminum / carbon-wrapped post, I think it's up to the strain...

I tried to but the new forum rules seem to limit you to two lines and I didn't feel like redoing the whole thing.

What? I was going to post in the hot or not thread. I think it will be well received.

I suspect I'll take the rack off when doing actual rides (i.e. for the purpose of riding) on it, but it's main function for me is utility - but utility in style

Don't count on it. I have yet to hit 400 miles since Jan 1 which was my minimum goal. I have to ride about 500 this month to get back on track and the weather is not looking like it will cooperate.

That CAADX - Disc is so great looking! I'd love some more pictures! I've considered spending a minimum amount of money on a MTB I can have some fun with this summer, but a cyclocross bike sounds nicer and nicer. That CAADX looks perfect, although a bit out of my price range. At current prices, I'd be dropping more on my "fun" ride than my main rig.

I'll take some more BF approved pics this weekend.

Fwiw, I sold my mtb to buy it. Not really into mtb-ing anymore and the X seemed like the perfect all around bike.

EDIT: btw, if OSX is Macs "Operating System version 10" does that mean that a CAADX is a CAAD 10?

Better than to the other evil one

Probably a Linux comparison would be best. Both have over the top fans.

Excellent decision then! I don't rip up trails, but I sure think it's a fun way to blow off stem at college. We don't have many rideable roads, unless you're training for a Roubaix, but we do have several trail systems. None of them are smooth enough to take a cyclocross bike on.

Hopefully the CAADX - 105 will have disc brakes next year. If so, that'll probably be my route. Unless I can get a CAADX - Disc Ultegra for cheap once the 2014s are out.

I was going to get the 105 and just upgrade the brakes but got a good deal on the disc. I think you would be plenty happy with the 105 but you might look into some TRP brakes as the stock ones didn't seem to hardly work. With TRPs or similar I think it would be as good as the disc as the stock discs aren't amazing either.

I put my Caad 9 up on Craigslist - I may throw it up on eBay in a few weeks if I cant' sell it locally. I really don't need it anymore.

The frame is disc compatible? And won't I need a new set of wheels?

Just some newbie questions. The cyclocross bike would certainly influence training in my college town with all of these gravel roads. I don't feel like I need the Ultegra on the CAADX either.
