Took the CAAD for a few rides since I've gotten it and had a couple of thoughts. The CAAD10 is not harsh at all, in fact it's on par with my old steel Trek in comfort, I absolutely love it. It's also stiff where you need it, the power transfer is astonishing, you stomp on the pedals and it GOES. And for a final thought, white bar tape is nice, but after a measly 50 miles it's already looking pretty bad. Darker bar tape is going to be coming soon.

Oh, and the Prologo Kappa Evo saddle is hard as hell, hope it breaks in soon or I'm gonna have to change that.

Here's a blurry potato pic on the first ride. Had to stop because my toes were numb from the cold (neglected to wear my shoe covers... whoops).

I run Prologo Scratch Pro saddles on all three bikes and they are fantastic - even for 200Km+ rides - dunno where they went wrong with the Kappa version???

After a few more rides the Kappa Evo hasn't been an issue. It was ever so slightly nose-up when I rode it the first time, I tilted it down probably .5-1 degree and it's all good. Rode ~30 miles in the cold the other day and never even thought about the saddle (which is good).

And a small update, even after some fiddling/cleaning and whatnot, I do not like the stock rotors that come on the CAAD10 Disc. I am going to likely swap them out for the SRAM Centerlines that match the Rival 22 Hydro Disc group. The stock rotors are OK until you really squeeze, then they sound and feel terrible. Nothing I've done has made them any smoother for braking. I will keep trying, but I've pretty much given up on them.

They do work really well, but yeah, the rough feel isn't great.

Well... the test ride didn't go well. There was some kind of problem with the rear derailleur. Everytime I shifted to a smaller cog there was a loud clunk and a noticable lash in the pedals. I did not join The Cult this afternoon.

I just got my road bike - Cannondale synapse 5 105 - last September. After loosing weight and getting into better shape (1300 miles later) I am looking towards my next bike. I am researching the CAAD10 5 105. Womens. I really want one and I am going to start saving now for this Christmas

That's a bummer. Have you ridden with SRAM setups before? I know I'm still getting used to the SRAM "clunk" they have. I like it, just takes some getting used to.

Don't let a shoddy tune up disuade you, clunky shifts can be fixed. Have you tried any other CAAD10 bikes?

I tried a Super Six Ultegra mechanical and I didn't like the sloppy way the brake levers moved on both axes at the same time. I tried a 2012 CAAD10 Black Inc. with Ultegra Di2, and I LOVED the way that one shifted. (not so much the outdated version of Di2 or the price they were asking) The framset is great, the SRAM clunk was off-putting, though.

Yup I hear ya, I was on the fence between a 2014 SuperSix Ultegra and my CAAD disc but didn't like how the brake levers moved on the SS. The SRAM "clunk" is taking some getting used to, but I do like the positive feedback compared to the Shimano setups.

You may be better off trying to find an ebay women's specific frame and just swapping your components over.

or just ride the synapse, which are great bikes in their own right. You likely won't notice a huge change moving to the CAAD10 other than the quickness of steering

Super excited today! Upgrade to Ultegra Groups complete! New bar tape too, since I was told my old bar tape was like a dirty wet sock which a wet dog rolled over! LOL.

FWIW, I wasn't too happy with the way my CAAD 10 5 (shimano 105) shifted when I first rode it, but a little bit of tuning and it's like butter.

Those types of issues are ALL to do with the shop / mechanic and little to do with the quality of the groupset....

This is one of the reasons test rides are over-rated. You are more likely to make setup the determining factor rather than fit. Most shops hire kids rather than experienced mechanics, so setup can be problematic. Once you are at the 105 level and higher, a well tuned bike will shift pretty much the same from there up. Even the newest version of Tiagra shifts pretty good if adjusted properly. Glad you guys are happy cult followers now.

The fit was fine, and they tuned it up between rides. I just couldn't abide the harsh jerk in the pedals when shifting gears.

I plan to have 2 bikes. That way I'll have a spare should the need arise.

After a little research I think I'll go with the 48cm size as my Synapse is a 51 and I have shortened the stem and also changed the seatpost so I could pull my saddle more forward. I guess a 48 would be a better fit. I am 5' 4 1/2". There is nowhere near me that I can even find availability of a 51 or a 48 women's to try or even a 48 mens to try. I might have to order in faith.

Fantastic rig, but you simply have to change the seatpost over - it's a CAAD10, not a Tarmac....
