Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shop

It's time I put together a little shop.
I'm thinking a basic tool kit, a torque wrench,
scales and a stand of course to start out with.

What brands do those of you who do your own wrenching trust & use?

Park?
Topeak?
Spin Doctor?
Any others?

I really like Park Tool, but I've only tried that and Pedros. I've heard Spin Doctor stuff is really cheap, breaks easily, or is unreliable. I feel like Park Tool's stuff is better quality than Pedros.

It depends on the tools. I had a chance a few weeks ago to look over some of the stuff that Lezyne makes and the quality is outstanding. Better quality than any other bike tools that I have seen. However, Lezyne doesn't have nearly as large a product offering as Park does. Park makes just about everything. But, if you get a chance look at anything made my Lezyne.

As for bike stand.

Here is what I have and I really really like it, but it is a little on the costly side.

I strayed from park when I recently bought a truing stand for home use. Stick with Park.
