Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can you tell me what year this Bianchi Virata is?

Hey so i just bought this Bianchi Virata on craigslist and he said he was the original owner of the bike, as in he bought it new, but he was not positive as to what year it was. He said he bought it around 1991. I do not know very much about bikes but i figured somebody hear would be able to provide me with an answer. It has Shimano 600 levers and the rear rim is aftermarket it is a Campagnolo and i think the style is Lambda Strada.
Could someone please tell me what year this bike is and what you think it is worth?

My guess is 1992. I've got a Bianchi Axis with the same ugly style of lettering on the top tube and I reckon "Function Specific ..." blah, blah, blah... on the seat tube. I think they gave up on that hideous art after a very short run. Mine's Tange Super Set tubes, with some ovalized at the lugs. Rides great! Butt-ugly!
