Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looking for a new bike

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good road bike in the $1500 range? I'm mainly a climber so weight is the main issue. I started biking three months ago and the current bike just isn't cutting it. I will be racing next season.

There are too many choices, really. What is it about your current bike that is holding you back? Do you have specific goals to guide your choice of bike?

Go for something mass-produced (e.g. Cannondale, Specialized, Trek, etc.) with a 105 groupset and you should be able to get something in that price range.

Current bike is heavy with sluggish shifting and frame feels flexy

Call a few bike retailers in your area and post the list here of what you can get in your price range. We'll be happy to help you spend your money!
