Specialized Tarmac SL3 Pro: SRAM or Dura-Ace
Hey all... I just ordered the 2011 Specialized Tarmac Pro with the Dura-ace set up. Was wondering what others opinions were on my choice? Should I switch the order and go with the SRAM. DA comes with 53 x39T chainrings vs the 52 x 36T on the SRAM. Also front derailleur on DA come with DA front derailleur vs the SRAM group set comes with SRAM force front derailleur. Bottom bracket on the DA is OS integrated (not sure what that means...) vs the SRAMs bottom bracket comes with crankset.
All opinions are welcome. Thanks in advance!

Just be happy with the Dura Ace.
On a related note...I don't understand why the sheeple of BF consider Shimano junk.

You should ride the one that feels best. Both shift differently and have different ergonomics. Ride both, then decide.

Blackdays: Yeah.. I am quite comfortable with the DA choice. I just keep having thought about the SRAM every now and then...
MegaTom: I did a test ride on the SRAM and was not too comfy with the double taps, but then again probably didn't ride it long enough to get used to them. I have been riding Shimano for the past 6 years..

Screw it, go with Campy. That's all I got. No other reason, but just to say it. I just thought of something. This is why I went with campy.

?? Because you're a poser? Did you even consider function at all in your choice? Not saying SR11 isn't great... but to buy it only for looks sounds like a terribly vain thing to do.

to the OP: Once your DA 7900 is broken in, you'll see it's the best front shifting you've ever experienced. If the ergonomics work for you, there is just not a better choice on the market.

Really you just can't go wrong with top of the line stuff(Shimano, SRAM, Campy). I just decided to go with campy because it looked better. Look at that thing Its a work of art. Plus I got a good deal on it.

They feel completely different......better ride a SRAM first before you buy. I just bought a 2011 Trek 6.7 Madone. I tried by DA and SRAM. Went with SRAM.......ride both.

My only beef with the SRAM is that it's white. I love the black version of it and am riding it now. Got it as a frameset so that I could put SRAM parts on it.

You're just goading the BF police with that drool-worthy picture mated with platform pedals.
To the OP, I'll add my voice to the ride them and try. My Roubaix has 7800 on it and it shifts as you would expect. The front shifts are superb, and the rear very clinical and precise. I just got a new bike with a Rival/Force mix and really like the quick rear shifting, and also the hood ergonomics fit *me* better - I like being able to pull the shift levers a little closer in the drops and the brakes are closer to where I want them. Having said that, the Rival shifter FD can't compete with 7800 for smoothness, and I'm still getting accustomed to the double tap to shift to upshift. I like them both, but you've got to try them in your own hands.

Finally got to ride a bike with SRAM Red and I really enjoyed it. Much crisper than my current 105/Ultegra mix. The double tap takes a bit of getting used to, but so did brifters in general when I got my bike last year. Can't wait for my new BMC with SRAM Red to arrive.
