Tarmac Pro SL3 framset or Felt FC
I've decided to with the frameset option, now my other dilemma is do I get the Tarmac Pro SL3 for $1799 or the Felt HC for $1499? Here are a couple of links if your not familiar with the frames.

Never rode the Felt, but can't say enough good things about the SL3. Incredible bike.

I'd guess that not one of the posters in this thread has yet ridden a 2011 F series. Entirely redesigned bike. Just sayin'.

Saying the Felt and the Tarmac aren't "in the same league" is utterly ignorant.
However, the know it all attitude is to be expected on BF I suppose.

On a related note, the manufacturer really doesn't matter anymore. Any two frames in the same price range (for the most part) will basically be the same thing.
You pick between the two by weighing geometry, visual appeal, and the deal you're getting. Saying one brand rides better than the other is strictly personal opinion, and is not in any way grounded in fact.

What isn't opinion is that Specialized has a heck of a larger R&D budget, and I really think it shows in their frames and S-Works components.
At the end of the day, i agree with you that when you're talking about most brands' top models, 95% comes down to the rider's ability, which is just another way of saying that 2 given bikes are considered equal. But there's no question that comparable frames have a different ride feeling, and at the end of the day, despite all of our opinions, the OP will have to develop his own.
