Considering some upgrades. Need advice.
I bought my 2011 Allez in September, but have been wanting to upgrade components and all told the price for doing that will about $800~.
Or, I can return the Allez to the LBS, get a refund and pay about $900~ and get an Tarmac Comp with either Rival or 105.
Not sure what to do here. I like the Allez, and enjoy having an Aluminum bike and always kinda planned to have an alu and CF bike for different purposes, but the upgrades almost justify getting a higher end bike, almost.

Ride what you have. Save your money for a Tarmac later. But it is your money and I think you want some validation that what you want to do is sensible. If all else fails, rationalize and justify

I understand what you are going thru - the bug - bought something relatively entry level to see if you'd like it, well...you obviously like it and now you want something better.
But think about it - why? How is your Allez holding you back? How are the components holding you back? Are you throwing chains left and right? Or just envying the latest BF'r?
Seriously, bring yourself down, and ride your freaking bike. There are alot of us here wishing we were riding a 2011 allez.
Buy a new wheelset or a bottle cage or something. You're just itching to spend a penny.

Better to spend and get the bike you want now if you can, than to ride the current and spend twice or more next year.
If the shop will let you, go for it. And it's a better deal to buy the whole bike than to pay for the upgrades. You'll get more for your money.

Throw the stick!!!!
I would recommend getting some flat resistant tires and going from there.

If the LBS allows you to return the Allez and you are certain that you would spend the $800 or so on upgrades anyway, get the Tarmac Comp w/ Rival. Sounds like you have the disposable income. Get the best bike you can get within your budget.

My philosophy is to get a MUCH better bike than you can afford, and gradually upgrade the engine to match the bike specs. For some of us, it cures the upgrade fever, at least for a while.
