Planet Bike Blinky Superflash Tail Light to avoid getting hit by a car
Another friend was hit by a car. She said "I never saw him".
I am thinking of buying the Planet Bike Blinky Superflash Tail Light to help make myself more visible. Anyone use this? I ride during the day; we are not talking about riding at night.
Other comments welcome.

My wife and I use them on our rides. Most people seem to give us much more room when passing. A flashing front is also helpful to stop people from coming out of driveways and side streets and into your path.

Nothing wrong with using a tailight during the day, and Planet Bike makes a good one. Odds are she didn't see him, because she wasn't paying attention though. Plus that's the go to excuse every driver seems to use when they hit a cyclist.
Hope your friend is okay.

The Planet Bike blinker is the brightest one I have out of several lights. I don't have it in front of me - but it was plainly visible in daylight. When I have it on at Cape Ann cars tend to steer far away. That being said - NYC / LI drivers often do not care who's on the road. Even blinking cyclists.

Had a very close call in daylight hours with a truck last year and ever since I use my Planet Bike taillight and a headlight (in addition to reflective gear) every ride, day and night. Have had the taillight for over a year and clip it on my backpack so it's nice and high, like a beacon. The batteries last a long time. It's a good tail light and if it wears out someday I'll buy another.
I put my headlight (a very modestly priced Night Rider) on strobe mode during daylight hours.
There's one very funky and busy intersection on my commute (that's the one where the truck nearly flattened me in a crosswalk last year). While I'm waiting for the light to change, I'll point the strobe across the way to the drivers on the other side ... the ones who used to pull right in front of me as they make their right turn on the red light. Gets their attention every time. As mentioned above, the strobe is also good to increase visibility to vehicles coming out of side streets and driveways.
Hope your friend is OK.

I have the Blackburn mars 4.0 and the superflash. I use them mainly for day use safety and are very visible from a far distance. Drivers not paying attention, on the phone, texting, playing with the radio etc still glance at the road and if my blinking light catches their attention to let them know I'm there, then thats better than them not seeing you at all. I've only seen one other cyclist use a superflash during the day and let me tell you that the light is vey noticeable from a far distance and should give advanced warning to motorist. The Blackburn is 1 watt and way too bright to even look at during the day!
Lots of dumb drivers out there and having the flashing light helps increase my chance from getting hit.

I use a Dinnotte 140L for DayTime Safety.

The goal here is to attract enough attention to make a “daydreamer” know your there and avoid being hit.

I usually don't ride with a tail light during the day. If it's cloudy I'll use a tail light. If the sun is rising or setting I'll definitely use a tail light.

daytime? odd. if someone cannot see you in daylight, it means they aren't even looking ahead. texting, talking, lookind at a map...whatever.

I would have thought so too. But a few weeks ago I was driving and could not help notice this red flashing light some distance ahead of me. It turned out to be a cyclist with the light that was bright and flashing. I saw him way before I got to him. I can’t help thinking that if my friend had that light, maybe he would have never been hit.

I use the Viewpoint Flashpoint Ultra myself, but I may pick up a Superflash as well.

I own both, and I'm regretting the purchase of the Knog.
The Planet Bike Superflash is about 2 times brighter than a Knog, and its effective spread area is MUCH larger (compared at the same brightness).
The Knog might seem find in from a very narrow window, but once you are out of its "aim", it's...just a dim red little dot...

I've bought many blinkies and the PB Superflash is (in my opinion) the best bang for the buck. I have several.

Lights make it easier for drivers to see you. Mirrors make it easier for you to spot idiot drivers.

I used a superblinky for over a year til I lost some parts and had to buy another. It's worth the purchase, especially at $20.

You can barely see them during the day. It's a waste of your money for anything but dark and dusk.
The only one that might be visible that I've seen during the day is this guy:

OK here is the deal:
At dusk or in dark, PBSF rules.
It is not going to make much of a difference in broad daylight.
If you want a rear light to be seen in daylight you need the Dinotte.
However, you are more likely to be seen in daylight if you wear a high-viz jersey...or a vest....that's what I do when riding solo during daytime commutes.
Hope your friend is ok.
