DBR Podium vs. Schwinn Peloton

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

DBR Podium vs. Schwinn Peloton

So I have been looking around for a low level carbon bike to ride during the winter. I have found these two and they are both similarly equipped(the only difference is the DBR has an ultegra rd). They both seem to have good reviews but I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience with either?

Diamondback had some real nice road bikes years ago under the DBR Podium line. Then they went all hybrid and mtb. I think lately they have return to road biking. Hope they keep the DBR badge. I like it more than Diamondback. hahahaha.... I read somewhere in RBR forum that the DBR Podium has stiff frames.

I had a Podium. Frame was extremely stiff.

Get the DBR.

Local big box sporting goods store had a 2007 DBR Podium 4 in an XS frame size sitting on the top of their rack last summer.

I had the kid take it down and noticed it was marked down to $850. I told him to tell his manager that I had $700 cash and I would take the bike off his hands.

My 13 yr old son now loves his road bike. I've only rode it around the block to adjust cables and shifting but it does seem pretty nice.

I don't have any experience with the Schwinn Peloton but maybe someone else will chime in.

Good Luck

Be wary of the sizing on the DBR. The top tubes are deceivingly long.

I remember seeing a thread that Costco at one point at had 2010 DBR Pod 3 for like $499.

Found it! https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-597462.html

Well I rode a peloton the other day and it was very nice...
And am going to try out the podium in a few days

Just for reference though, the it is a podium 5 which is full carbon with sram rival compared to the peloton which is 105
