Why I'm Thankful
I'm thankful for having the freedom to enjoy a unique, healthy, relatively inexpensive recreation and sport that is cycling. I'm thankful for the friendships, distant and virtual though they may be, here on BF. I'm thankful the mods have never given me an official reprimand for my bad behavior. That said, a new year is around the corner with a new coddle-reduced persona set to roll out for S's and G's. I'm thankful that because of all the good advice and insights from the more experienced cyclists here on BF, Fred is not the first thing that comes to mind when others think of me. I'm thankful for the 33 for their wizened

elitism. I'm thankful Pcad can't possibly post any more than he does, and that his nonsense threads are quickly taken over by kids. And finally, I'm thankful to be alive and kicking. You?

I'm thankful that my second surgeon was able to get me back on the bike. I'm also thankful that most of my riding friends have been cool enough to ride with me without complaining about the slow pace.

This Thanksgiving has been the one where I truly grasped the nature of "Thanksgiving". I am thankful that I still have my wife of 15 yrs after she had a seizure and was literally blue 5 weeks ago. She is otherwise healthy and doing well on antiepileptics. I am thankful that our marraige was strong enough to get through this stressful time and that she was able to forgive me for being a doting husband (which has never been my nature). I am thankful for the many friends who showed their support for me, both real and on line.
I am also thankful that I am healthy enough to ride regularly, and that I found cycling. It is a wonderful stress reliever.
I am thankful that when I bought a new pair of jeans last night, I bought the same size that I wore when I graduated High School (I am 43), after a 35# weight loss over the past 18months (when I started cycling again after a 8 year hiatus)
I am also thankful that I have the financial stability to buy fun toys and schwag.
I am also thankful that I am healthy enough to ride regularly, and that I found cycling. It is a wonderful stress reliever.

Live long and prosper! I'm thankful to have achieved about 2/3 of both!
God has given me the most wonderful wife, helpmate, friend, companion, partner and lover... all in one woman. For that I'm REALLY thankful. Plus, she finds my silly obsessions (like bikes) "cute".
What else could I ask for?

I am thankful that I am far enough along in recovery from my knee replacement that I can actually pedal my stationary bike, and that I drove for the first time today in a month.

I'm thankful for being alive after so many damned crashes, but more importantly I'm VERY thankful my wife still loves me and nurses me back to health.... hot salt baths, wound scrubbing etc

Whilst we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Australia, reading this thread has given pause to think about being thankful.
I'm thankful that at 49, I am still capable of riding a bike (not fast mind you, but enough to make it a worthwhile exercise for me).
I'm thankful for a partner who understands me and doesn't want to change the person that she met and fell in love with. I'm thankful for her amazing cooking ability (I have burnt water) and her understanding of my need to sometimes be alone (out cycling as unfortunately, she doesn't ride). I'm thankful for having her in my life for too many reason to put down here.
I'm thankful that I live in a country where peace is the norm.
I'm thankful to be alive and well.

I'm thankful I discovered cycling two months ago. Wish I had discovered it about 15 years ago...might have saved myself a knee surgery from years of running.
I'm also thankful for my family, my job, and my health. I have been truly blessed.

I'm thankful for the almost 50 pounds I've lost since June 2009 when I started this sport. Thankful for the good health I enjoy everyday, a wife who puts up with all the money I spend on this sport, thankful I married my best friend and she still is. I'm really blessed. And happy.

I am thankful for:
1. the ignore feature (although it needs work)
2. that I can take my frustrations out on the singlespeed mtb whenever I want to just by riding right out of the garage and never leaving my property.

I am thankful that everyday, God shows me mercy. I am thankful that I have incredible friends that forgive me for a multitude of personal faults I have. I am thank for God's provision in my family's life, and that I have a spouse and 2 and 1/2 children that redefine the word love for me everyday.

^ You should invite them to look through your photo album filled with scenic vistas of Knoxville as seen by bike. Maybe even hook your computer up to a screen projector so they can read and write on BF with you.

I am sincerely thankful for the motivation and passion that the sport of cycling has instilled upon me, as well as the life-long skills and independence I garnered from learning to wrench and to ride.
Furthermore, I'm incredibly thankful for my family and the fact that we are still hosting the annual Thanksgiving 25+ people feast this year, uniting my extended family for a day of enjoyment. I'm also thankful that my mother has yet to discover the $500 I just spent on a set of lightly used Zipp 404s that I'll be using for crit racing here in January...
