BMC (roadracer) Streampost Max Extension Length?
For those of you with BMC road racers, any idea of the maximum seatpost extension? I'm chosing between two BMC's now, and if i go the RR route i would need apprx. 26cm extension above the ridiculously low seat collar.
I emailed BMC, but haven't heard anything.
Thanks.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
They actually have two different lengths of seatpost, or at least they did with the Streampost that I've got in my SLX01. They use the shorter version for short frames so that it doesn't interfere with the seat tube's cutout for the rear wheel.
Anyway, mine has its max extension mark at 24 cm from the saddle rails. I'm assuming that I have the longer one since my frame's big. I'd say to ask Competitive Cyclist about it.

Not even a possibility. Literally. Thanks though.

FWIW, the markings are along the front face of the seatpost, so it might measure differently going along its centerline.
What size of frame are you looking at, and what's your inseam? I've been riding with mine around the 13-14 cm marks; 33"-ish inseam, size 58 SLX frame.

Thanks Barrack. The measurement that i was referring to would be from the seat collar to the center of the seat post clamp. Actually, i just took a look at a picture on the BMC website. In the picture, the post is out to the 21 mark, with 2-3 inches above '0'. so i think the post would work fine for me.
I was looking at a 54cm frame (2011). I'm 5'10.5" with a similar inseam to yours. The 54 would be great with a higher head tube. I like low, but i dont need a massive drop to get there
The 57 is too big.
Anyway, thanks for your help. really appreciate it.

The difference in effective top tube length between the 54 and 57 is 1.5 cm with the 57 being 56.5 cm. I'm 5' 9.5" and one of my bikes has a TT of 56.5 with a 90mm stem and works out well for me. Note that the setback of the standard Streampost isn't much. My new ride is a 55cm SLR01 and I'm very happy with the fit.
