Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I pulled the trigger....

Bought a Giant TCR Advanced 2 in M/L size. The store didn't have it in stock, so they're ordering it in. Hopefully it'll arrive sometime next week, and I can go pick it up and take a picture of it to prove that it happened. Now the only question is which pedals to get? I have Look Keo Classic's on my Touring Bike and I like them. So I could by the Look Keo Easy and swap them to my new bike (but they're red, and would sort of clash). I can probably get the Look Keo Classic's locally for about $90, or maybe opt to get the Look Keo Max2 off of PBK. Unfortunately, it'll be too cold to take it out for a ride for a while.

Keo Blades. Awesome. "cheap" on PBK too.

Get pedals that take the same cleats as your existing pedals so you can wear the same pair of shoes. I don't know if the Keo Blades take a different cleat - they look like they do, but it's hard to tell.

And if your budget is really tight - buy a pedal wrench and swap them back and forth. I did that for two years with two of my bikes.

I've got Look Keo Classic's right now, so there are- as I see it, three options. Get Look Keo Easy's- move the classics from my touring bike to my new road bike, and put the easy's on the touring / commuter, get another pair of Look Keo Classic's, or buy a pair of Look Keo 2 Max's. I'm not sure I understand the benefit of the Keo 2 Max versus the Keo Classics, other than the larger contact area. But I'm leaning towards getting another pair of Look Keo Classic's- this time in black or grey, and leaving the red ones on my current bike.

I'm excited to get my new ride, even if it is the middle of winter. I also have to get some water bottle cages, and a cycle computer (or two- one of my new road bike, one for my commuter which is currently on a trainer). Did I mention it's my birthday in a week?
