Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I thought this was titled "Roadies and Sports Bras" and was going to suggest it be moved to the "secret" women's forum!

Oh yeah, IBTM to foo/trollheim.

None of the sports bars near me show cycling events, so I don't go to them.

Didn't realize L&R was a chain/franchise. We've got one here too.

Taco Mac is ok, only the ones that have outdoor patios so I can relax outside with a beer in my hand away from the annoying drone of TV's and whoop of rednecks... and only after a long ride on a 90deg day.

All the jocks and jill's I knew of in Atlanta closed down several years ago. CNN center, midtown, alpharetta, brookhaven... all out of business.

Shows you how often I get out.

I had my car booted at the Jocks and Jills in midtown years ago. I had played golf at Bobby Jones with a random guy who played bass in some group called Nickel Back. Never heard of em. Music Midtown was the next day and he was going to call a cab to get him back to his hotel right by J&J. I offered to drive him in exchange for a beer at the bar. Really nice guy.

He didn't do the whole rock star party thing (back then at least) and said he would call a cab in every city they would stop in to have it take him to the nearest public course. He'd play while everyone else recovered in the bus.

One of my cycling buddies owns a local wine pub, where he broadcasts cycling.

The Cross Eyed Moose.... But really I prefer my Aunt & Uncle's, when I head home I don't have a bar tab and the DVR is great for bathroom breaks.

yep we have two. They are mediocre at best but the one here is rather close to my house and they usually have halfway decent specials

I avoid them. Except as a vehicle for trivia night, or on the seldom occasion that I absolutely have to have some particular greaseburger that they specialize in (no joke, I really do).

Except Hooters. I had my Hooters passport stamped enough times in my last tour that I got a free 200 wing party.

I've heard that Tilted Kilt is the new Hooters. That's what the MC racers tell me at least.
