Need Recommendation on a Good Spinner/Program OR Should I Stick With...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need Recommendation on a Good Spinner/Program OR Should I Stick With...

...rollers and my bicycle.

At this point, at my very very poor shape (in and out of hospital for last 2 years) I'm more interested in fast results than savings. So I have no qualms about going out and buying a spinner and a decent dvd spinning "course". Are there any quality ones? Should I buy one spinner but buy a seperate dvd program? I'm totally lost in this departments.

I could put my new systemsix on rollers but with it's condition so good and it's relatively unused status, I'm thinking of selling it; Rival and all. Tires still have some nubs left on them.

My goal is to get in shape. this portion would be to get my legs in shape and in a way, help with the core of my body as well. Si8nce I want to use this body to TT on the track eventually, I'm going to work out more on my legs than say my arms/chest/back etc. Don't get me wrong, it'll be an even workout.

Thanks in advance!

-Bert

Hey Bert

Congrats on release from hospital!

Spring, then Summer will be here soon - why not keep the bike and therefore your options open?

No hurry eh? Try an easy five minute spin on the rollers, and see how you feel tomorrow. If five minutes doesn't even warm you up, maaybe ten or twelve minutes...

Add a minute each day; you'll be up 95 minutes by April. There will be warm and dry days in April.

Injury and/or overuse will set you back - avoid!

It takes time.

Time flies!

Two years from now you can be in good shape - in five years, a force.

The sun is shining here; we'll see 60s today.

My best winter training program is the CTS Progressive Power 8 week DVD series. https://www.trainright.com/folders.asp?uid=19

You need a trainer like a Kurt Kinetic Road machine (will last a lifetime) with the power meter (cheap) since it is power based (or, of course, a powermeter on your bike). It is an advanced training program though.

Rollers or a trainer won't hurt your bike. You could put on different tires if you want to keep your current ones new.
It's the road dirt & potholes that cause the wear.
