Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

6700 shifters with old 105 brakes - funny issue

Shimano says not perfectly compatible due to different cable pull, but what I face is funny.

Modulation is poor but manageable, even on fast [well, as fast as I dare] descents. However, braking in wet conditions is very very poor, bordering on dangerous. Any explanations for this? Or is it that pads may be gone, and replacing pads alone would help?

Am little reluctant to spend 80 pounds on calipers unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks.

Old pads?

Or it might be the pull ratio issue - You can make contact with the rim quickly but it takes a whole lot of hand grippage to get the pads to increase pressure. If that's the case, you don't have to get brakes that cost 80 quid to solve the issue.

I nominate replace pads and clean your rims.

So what would you suggest?

I'll do that, but if that were the issue, would it not affect dry braking as well?
