Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Anyone else getting slow deliveries from PBK?

I ordered some Speedplay pedals from them about a month ago and am still waiting. I emailed them and they told me just to sit tight and that there have been a lot of issues with shipping beyond their control. I know its free and all but sheesh whatever the excuse a month is getting to be a bit much - especially when I saw the same pedals a few bucks cheaper locally a couple days after I ordered them.

What do you expect? There are so many middlemen with international shipping and so many stages at which things can get held up - it's hardly unique to PBK, and it's hardly their fault. IME they've never taken more than 3 days from ordering to despatch something (and that was unusual) - in most cases stuff goes out the next day.

Well I wished I would have seen the thread. I just ordered pedals from Absolute yesterday. Not that I need them right away being in Minnesota so I can wait. I have an extra set right now if needed. But knowing this I would have bought elsewhere. But I am saving over 50% even with freight than buying from the LBS.

I'm sure mine will get her soon, hopefully by next weekend. It would really be nice to have those fenders this time of year.

My last bunch of tires took about 10 days, that's longer than it used to take.

The UK mailmen probably went on strike again.

Hi,

I ordered some stuff that they shipped on 12/9. On 12/20 I had not received it so I sent an email. On 12/21 they responded by saying that:

There are reported delays to the US due to some changes in the airmail service after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security imposed some restrictions. Please also be aware that the postal services are very busy at this time of year and so mail is taking a little longer to be delivered.
As of today, I am still waiting. I will probably send another email tomorrow.

I have ordered from PBK many times. I have generally been amazed that the orders show up in California in 3-7 calendar days. The longest I have ever waited has been about 2 weeks. I hope Homeland Security is enjoying my Campagnolo cassette.

I've ordered three sets of GP4000S tires from them. I don't think I ever waited more than a week to get my delivery. Last order was in July, however.

I was lucky to avoid the delays when I ordered a saddle and the Crud Road Racer fenders because they arrived in a week, the jacket my wife ordered to give me for X-mas has yet to arrive.

I ordered from CRC in the UK on 30 Nov, shipped 1 Dec and arrived 14 Jan to my mailbox in Ohio. I too emailed back and forth to customer service and got the same story -- Holidays, changes in US procedures, etc. They did offer to refund my money if it didn't arrive.

I guess this should be expected when ordering overseas. I usually buy everything locally but the Crud Road Racer fenders don't seem to be available in the US so it wasn't an option. I'm sure they will be worth the wait though.

Except that you once commented on the 11-21 cassette on my race bike.

I've been waiting for 2 orders. Shipping dates of 12/8 & 12/9 and still waiting for delivery in So Cal.

Wed the 19th will be the 28 working days that PBK states is their longest estimated delivery time and when I will be sending another email to them....

Look - I like PBK, but I won't do business with them if it takes more than a month to get my stuff for any reason. Be it their fault or not...

I've ordered my SwissStop RacePro Yellow King Brake Pads last month and they were shipped on 12/16. Still waiting...

Agreed, if I have to wait a month or more then I'll have to look for alternatives. Either that, or plan WAY in advance. They've been very good to me in the past but this seems a bit long to me.

Ordering a frame next week from CRC. Hopefully it's not too bad to Melbourne.
