my new Independent Fabrications build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am building a IF Crown Jewel (Steel) I just got from a friend. The build will take a few months if I decide to buy new parts. The frame is quite stunning and LIGHT for a steel frame. The best part was the price, I got the frame, fork, Chris King headset, Rival crank/BB from a friend for...$200
I am planning on building it up with Rival, though I will use the 600 calipers I have for now, Thomson seatpost and stem, brooks team pro saddle (which I am trying to trade for a Fizik Antares or Aliante in black). The temptation to strip my current ride of its Dura ace 7700 group and put it on the IF is tempting, just at least to get it out on the road, we shall see how the weather is looking this weekend.
Here is how it is looking so far (the red is a powder coat the guy I bought it from had done). these are my temp wheels, I will be ordering some Neuvations soon (I've had great experiences with Neuvation and will be sticking with them for the long haul)
Comments, suggestions, critiques are welcome

My critique is to get a new camera. That's like saying you have naked pictures of [insert person of desire here], but they're all so blurry that I can't tell what species it is.

i also question the authenticity of the bike being an independent fab...those chainstays look funny...i know they are full custom but they dont look like the chainstays on my steel crown jewel

Hi, thanks everyone.
to answer a few questions:
1) there is no seat post clamp because it could not be found in my friends messy (bike filled) apartment, so I'll have to get another.
2) I am 99.9% it is a IF (I saw it before it was stripped and painted, with stickers and all) and the guy I bought it from, bought it from his buddy who confirmed it is a IF, though the chain stays look pretty wide, all the tubes are sealed inside (checking head tube, seat tube etc), and it is an exquisite frame.
3) I own one car, a crappy old Honda civic from the 90's with 200,000+ miles on it, this bike will probably be worth more than my car when it is done.
More pics soon! Im getting the headset pressed in this weekend, so Ill post with bars and such (and ordering new stickers)

For comparison to another Crown Jewel, here is a pic of one that has the same chainstays and downtube cable bosses as mine (they are on the headtube in this case)

But it does look nice. I wish you could take better photos though. My bike was in a similar situation half a year ago. This week I will connect the last cables to finish the build. Enjoy your project!

Hell if it's a lightweight steel frame with the parts you mentioned just run with it! Congrats on the pickup.

That steering looks slack. Must be a stable ride, though not a quick steering one. Good luck with the build!
