Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What a week!!!

Well early last week I decided I was going to get back into racing this summer after 1 year off with a new child and my wife being back to work. I was starting to feel a little congested early last week and coughing up some brown stuff. With that said I was going to take a rest week (6hrs of riding) and get ready to go hard on my training plan for the upcoming season. By Thursday I was feeling better again and got back on my bike for a few shorts trainer sessions. Thursday was great, Friday was great and I got up early Saturday and put in an easy roller session. Then I started to feel not so good which led to me being stuck on the couch for 1.5 days and my wife calling in sick to work so she could take care of our daughter. All of my joints ached and I could not really eat anything. At times I had some energy and then all I could do was sleep. I am feeling better now and should be ready to go full steam tomorrow. Funny thing is I was just mentioning that I had went to whole winter without getting sick and then I got walloped with this. Weird how your body can feel so terrible and then recover within a day. I am not sure which bug I had but I don't wish that on anyone.

BTW Skinnyguy, I feel fro ya...Had the same kind of thing a couple weeks ago. Started with typical cold stuff, thought I was getting better and then wham! I was down for a few days...Then like you in a matter of a day I felt relatively normal, that is until I got on the bike...Top end was still hurting...Took a few more days before it was all out of my system...
