Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Which DT Swiss Spokes should I use for my build:
32 hole 240 hubs
RR 585 Rims

I'm 6'0" / 195 - 200 lbs.
LOVE to climb ans am out of the saddle a lot.

Also want smooth ride.

I would use a standard double-butted round spoke like DT Swiss Competition cross-3 on both wheels. You can also use slightly lighter Wheelsmith DB-14 spokes.

Is there a special reason you chose the RR585 rims? The RR465 will build into a really nice wheelset too.

DT makes the best spokes too, I'd use them even if it wasn't a DT build. Go for the competitions, but look around you may be able to find that wheelset as a prebuilt somewhere for cheaper.

I had wheels built with a PT and 240s and went with the Aerolites. I was 226 lbs at the time. Still going strong. GL

I did this too 2 years back. Also had no troubles, weigh ~180 lbs.

Ever built a wheel with Sapim CX-Rays?

OP should also go 28h front if he's going 32h rear. Maybe even 24h on the front.

I did, too, almost a year ago. But I snapped 2 DT Revolution spokes doing sprint intervals uphill, at about 215 lbs at the time.

I just used DT comps with an RR465 and 240 hub, seemed like the safe spoke choice for an every day wheel.
