I am probably switching to Look Keo2 Max pedals
....and was wondering what to expect since I am switching over from SPD pedals. I need new shoes and cleats anyway and I now have 2 pairs of brand new Look Keos. I figure I may as well "graduate" to road pedals. Are there any difficulties I may expect to encounter...anything I need to "get used to" with this switch? I have heard good (and some not so good) things about these pedals, but since they were free I figure "what the hey" right? They are not the carbon pedals.
New Bike...new pedals...I am feeling pretty good about this upcoming riding season.
Cheers,
Brian J.

I switched to a Look knock off from Wellgo SPD pedals during my first year of riding. I was getting a lot of hotspots from the SPDs. I immediately noticed and appreciated the wider platform. I personally thought the Look knock offs were easier to clip into as well. I've since switched to Shimano 105s though and am very happy. In short, I was in no way disappointed by my switch away from SPD pedals.

Not a double sided entry, but that is really the only difference that I feel when I switch between SPD, SPD-SL and Look.
I find that clipping out of the Look is the easiest of all the three, but that might be due to different speing tension settings.
I like my Look b'cause I got them in red
How did you get free pedals?

Woah, you are a good man! I probably wouldn't have put forth such an effort trying to find the original owner. Good on ya.
I have been using Look Keo Sprints since I first went clipless. That's many many miles ago at this point. I like them a lot. Set your tension low at first, until you get used to them. I have Sprints on two bikes and Keo 2 Max on one. I like the 2's a bit better. The metal plate seems to provide a more secure/definitive snap in. Also like the wider platform.
I use spds on my around town bike. They are definitely easier with the double-sided entry.
What to expect - a bit of time getting used to the Looks, but not much. You're already used to clipless. The one sided takes a little time to get used to. You'll also have to see if they rotate. Some of my Look pedals rotate and come up flat when I'm preparing to clip in. Makes it easy. Some don't rotate so I need to turn them with my foot as a step in. I'd rather have them all rotate or all not, for the sake of uniformity.
Good luck.

Hey I think those are mine.
I just got some Look 2 Max pedals. They work really well. I had a look knock off fall apart on me. I replaced them with the 2 Max. I run Looks on all my road bikes.

Brian you are awesome! If only there were more people like you. ^^ Like what nayr497 said, I doubt anyone will put forth so much effort in trying to locate the original owner.

Thanks. Awesome?....shudder....I sure hate to think that what I did was out of the ordinary, I like to think that cyclists look out for each other. All I know is that if it had been me who had bought those pedals and lost them, I would hope that someone would find them and try to find me. My dad taught me many many years ago that if I have to get something at the expense of someone else then I do not need that thing. I try to live by that to this day. Now, if I can find a decent pair of road shoes for around $100 up here in Canada where cycling gear is outrageously priced. Any suggestions for a road pedal/shoe newbie?
Cheers,
Brian J.

Brian,
Check jenson for sale prices on some nice Shimano 132L road shoes, currently they have a sale on them for 39.99 USD (limited sizes though). The same shoes pop on bonktown.com for 74.99 USD and you may find one your size. And please do not take this the wrong way but since you have found 2 pairs of pedals and cannot locate the original purchaser (despite all your efforts, which I admit above and beyond most people would do), may I suggest you pass them on in one of the "pay it forward" threads? You may make a starter cyclist very happy.

What's your shoe size, Brian? I'd be willing to pay it forward on some shoes, since you sound like a fine specimen of humanity. I have several set of road shoes that don't fit, so it wouldn't be a problem if any of them are your size.
