I just sold my bike that carried me for many years;

He picked you up today and seemed a good fellow

Yet you were the one that enhanced my love of the sport and gave me my personal best on my third century I ever road. I was very sad to see you leave me but the the man I sold you to seem to appreciate you as well as i did and while i purchased a more techno bike it was so sad to see you go. I do not have stable of bikes simple one that serves me well and I will always remember you.

I am a simple sap.....................but what can I say some time memories are associated with what we love.

I'm not quite so sentimental. I went through two bikes before my current steed. However, I feel that if I ever get rid of it, I'll certainly have seller's remorse for a while.

I enjoyed her for a year in bittersweet splendor. Words cannot describe this frame's exquisite handling and descending prowess. Unfortunately, the fit was a near constant struggle, the amount of discomfort it caused me made me want to hurl it of the peak of every climb I summited astride it. Truly, a tragedy. I considered modifying it in a significant way to facilitate better fit, but I decided to find another with a similar specification, instead. This was to no avail. I traded for a near identical frame (another Colnago) that should have been the answer, but no other frame could capture the unique cocktail of fantastic handling, surging acceleration, track bike angles that gave it the ability to dive in the sharpest corners at the highest speeds with absolute precision and the composure of a wise sage.


Let us now have a moment of silence, for the best bike I have ever ridden...

The solution is to become a collector. They don't take up that much space if ya hang 'em on the wall. Best thing is bikes don't get jealous if you take a ride on the "ex".

I know where every one of my old bikes are.
I remember when I sold my Ciocc frameset. I was announcing a race in Chelsea. From the stage, I watched the guy carrying it down the street until he went out of sight. I couldn't look away. And I remember thinking: "This is weird. It's just a bike. Look away. I can't."

I saw it a number of years later. Painted and shiny. And I detected a slight air of 'you had your chance' coming from it.

Here's my tribute, with a bit of backstory, to my soon to be departed Orbea. We had eight great seasons together. I sold her to a friend, who wants to get into riding the road, so I think it's a worthy sacrifice.

This is her successor.

I just got a caad9 and I don't see any reason to sell it. It fits well and rides great. I may upgrade to a nice carbon bike someday but see no reason t sell the caad unless I'm hurting for cash, which is my lot in life, but I'll do my best to hold on to it.

I've bought and sold probably a dozen or so bikes over the past 5-6 years. I'm usually a little sad about it. I was probably most depressed, however, over selling the beach cruiser I rode around on during college. It was a cheap piece of crap, but I'd made the mistake of naming it... I actually did cry when the new owner drove off with it. My roommates thought I was weird.
I can't imagine how I'll react if a bike is ever stolen from me. Seriously one of my worst nightmares.

My first bike was and still is a 2010 Trek 2.1. I will never sell it even though I'm already thinking about an upgrade.
I'm not made of money but I couldn't say goodbye to my first bike.

I am with you too. I have sold two bikes over the years, and I often wonder how they are doing. Are they being kept out of the rain? Are they being taken out and ridden? Mostly I just wish I had them back. Its funny how they seem to be like a family member or pet or something. WEIRD
