Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gumwall Tire Recommendations?

Hi,
I'm looking for some low-profile and clean-looking gumwall tires such as these. Can anybody recommend some good brands and models? I'm currently riding 700x23C's.

Thanks in advance.

Agreed, but rather fragile. I ride Vittoria Open Corsa CX's.

Interesting. While I found them not be a particularly high mileage tire, the ones I've had were surprisingly durable.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "fragile?" Will it pose a problem for a casual rider (a 20 minute commute and the weekend stroll every now and then).

What would you guys say the biggest reason is that these tires cost twice as much as something like the Panaracer Paselas? I assume they are higher quality/performance, but as a casual rider what are the biggest advantages I will notice by riding these?

Thanks

Arkistan - the Panaracers are decent tires for your commutes and weekend strolls. The Veloflex and the Vittoria's are more performance/racing oriented with prices to match.

Thanks. I just realized this forum is mostly oriented toward racing so your recommendations make total sense.
