Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

giant tcr composite... any thoughts?

hey all, i really like the tcr composite and was wondering what you all think. right now i ride mainly to work and back home. its like 3 miles one way. which is a short ride, but i would like to start working towards a centry ride someday. i'm 6'3" and 190lb and 30 yrs. old. right now i'm riding a mid 70's schwinn traveler 111, so i know that anything will be an upgrade. thanks for your thoughts.

I just bought a 2011 version and so far I love it. It's the smoothest riding bike I've owned so far. The updated 105 components are great for the recreational/fitness type of riding I do. Two complaints though is the bike comes with none 105 brakes but that's an easy fix and the wheelset their house brand which was an easy fix also since a had a set of Mavic Ksyrium Elites from my other bike.

I ride the 2007 edition and I love it. The newer versions are stiffer where it counts, at the head tube and bottom bracket. And what pinoy says about new Shimano 105 (5700) is absolutely correct--it's slick and well made.

At 6'3" you'll probably want size "L" (large).
