I am very interested to see pics and hear your impressions of the ride.
Congrats!
BTW - since when was ti considered retro? I thought that distinction was held by lugged cromo.

OK, the specs are locked in and the packages are all filtering through UPS toward my house...
The final specs:
Lynskey R230
ENVE 2.0 fork
Cane Creek 110 headset
Ksyrium K10 wheels (that CC deal was too good to pass up)
Red drivetrain (with cassette and BB downgraded out to bring the price down out of the stratosphere)
S975/Quarq Cinqo cranks
Keo 2 Max Carbon pedals
Zipp Service Course SL bar/stem/post
Fizik Antares Versus saddle
Hoping to have the build done w/pics by Monday...

With all of these upgrades, you must have found some sucker to pay top dollar for your CAAD!

I didn't know Eriksen was out of Steamboat. I was looking at their website and their address is the same as Orange Peel bikes. 1136 Yampa. Found that interesting.

So Mr PCad, what did you think of those Scott clip on drops? I used their drop in bars for about a year in the late 80s. They were ok, but they had a lot of flex to them. Not super bad as they were sort of a shock absorber, but my knees would hit the lower in part as i recall.

DrPete,
Give it a lot of rides, then report how you like it. I've done steel, alu, carbon starting in 1962. I got a Cervelo carbon RS in 09, then tried a Specialized Crux carbon last November for crappy winter and not-maintained roads riding. I loved it. So much that I convinced my wife to take one out for a test-ride, so we could ride together. She had never ridden drop-bar, and was really skeptical before getting on. She had no idea how to use a SRAM Apex shifter, but I showed her what to do. She rode for about 30 seconds, and it was obvious the saddle was too low, so the shop gal raised it. I figured my wife was supposed to ride around the parking lot, BUT SHE DISAPPEARED. Eventually, after about 15 minutes, she came back, and said, "I like this." So we've ridden our Cruxes together.
Last week I put my grad-school home-for-summer-vacation on my Crux. He'd never ridden a drop-bar bike. He was gone for an hour. He liked it.
I think a good test, when you get older, is, riding with your wife and kids. Sharing your love of your sport, and turning your loved ones onto it. I took my kids out on bikes starting when they were very young, and they all like to ride as adults.
I took my kids body-boarding. My oldest chipped his tooth on a steep wave when he was 12 y/o in Hawaii. He nevertheless loved body-boarding, even after getting injured, as in he later purloined MY board when he moved out 6 years later. Just because I had let him use it didn't mean it was HIS BOARD!
If you let your kids use your bikes as they grow to fit them, be careful about letting them ride your best bike. You might lose it.

Whatever sucker bought it will be happy to know, though, that it's all boxed up and getting dropped off to FedEx tomorrow.

Unlike the Cinelli Spinaci, though, which must've been awesome because the UCI banned it. Yes, this is how I kill time waiting for the UPS truck.

UPS man arrived, a couple hours ago, and the build is underway... This frame is absolutely stunning. Workmanship is incredible.

I have a Lynskey, yet I keep following this thread and living the new bike thrill vicariously. It makes me want to get another one.

Well, I got on a roll and have most of the build done. Still needs the saddle, and when the K10's show up I'll make the final brake adjustments and it should be set... I just used the wheels off my tri bike to tune derailleurs and what not.

Actually, curious to hear Dr. Pete's comparison of Red to Shimano.

Well, as for SRAM vs Shimano, it's been so long since I've used Shimano that I don't think I could make a very intelligent comparison, but what I do like about SRAM is the slightly more mechanical feel that I loved about Campy, with the added benefit of being able to find things like chains, cassettes, cables, etc locally. After a few years on Force and Rival, now Red, I've been really pleased with having made the switch.
