Best Memorial Day Weekend in a long time

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Best Memorial Day Weekend in a long time

Came home from Afghanistan on Saturday to my girls I hadn't seen in 9 months, and two boxes from Competitive Cyclist containing:

So, yay America and yay me and my entry into carbon fiber.

20 miles for a shakedown today, super stiff but smooth.

Welcome home, there is nothing sweeter than that first embrace after being overseas in a war zone, and nothing, I mean NOTHING, under-scores just how wonderful this country until you return from a place like Iraq or Afghanistan. Thanks for your service and sacrifice.

So you haven't seen the family for 9 months, and the first thing you do is ditch them to go on a 20 mile bike ride?

Makes sense

Happy Memorial Day to you and your family.

Love your kids are much as you can. Teach them beauty of the country you bravely serve. Bask in the love, warmth and safety of your family. Make them proud of the father that serves the county he loves and the mother that keeps the family strong even without you there to help. Enjoy that amazing bike. On memorial day, my personal thanks.
