Tire Pressure Lost Between Rides?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tire Pressure Lost Between Rides?

I have a new Spec Secteur and after about 2 days the tires are always 10-20 psi lower. Is this normal? They're stock tires and I've already replaced both tubes due to flats with Spec tubes. (Also checked the tires for sharp objects.) Are there tubes that don't leak as much?

How are you determining what your tire pressure is?

I haven't had to pump air in my Forte Thorn resistant tube for over 2 months. But I have to refill my front Continental tube every ride. Seems to drop 40 psi or something overnight. And it has no leak either.

Road tires contain such a small volume of air that the mere act of checking pressure will drop the pressure several PSI. That and the fact that rubber tubes are thin and have a small amount of air permeability. So yes, losing 20lbs over a couple days is completely normal. Pump your tires before each ride.
