hey guys, so i was just out and did 25 miles today. got home just in time because it looked like rain. anyways, the creaking is when it's under pressure, it gets worse, ie. going up the hills. i lubed my chain pretty good after cleaning it again and fixed the magnet. the sound is coming from the front crank and i think it's just because of all the weight i am putting on the chain. is this normal? i tried to change all the gears and it pretty much does it throughout. it's annoying but is there any way to fix it at all? i thought lubing the chain would help but it seems like it's worse than yesterday. i think the chain might be hitting the front derailluer cage actually. i dont wanna mess with the front derailluer because all my gears are working wonderfully, just this sound has to go and i am good to go. please help.

well i didnt have money for a new bike and i got a really good deal on this one. i already got the rear cable replaced for free and teh gears fixed and wheels trued. he said he should have done that when he sold me it. i think i just acted over anxious to get it that he didnt bother to do anything. anyways all is well now except that creaking.
where is the bottom bracket at?

hmm, i think it is the bottom bracket but i am still unsure. but that's what it's pointing towards. it didn't used to make that, just recently. i think it might be something else still. anyways, those aero bars i got, i couldn't return them. i bought a different set that will fit my bike, but the ones that i fell on, went on my dads bike. they fit perfectly and are so strong now due to using the brackets they came with. i tested it out on a neighborhood ride and they are extremely comfortable. so much more aerodynamic on the fuji hybrid. i am going to go down to a local forrest area and ride some trails with it. probably not the aero bars, but i will use them to get there. they are awesome.

if it is the bottom bracket, can i just tighten it. i think that part is loose somehow because thats exactly where the noise is coming from. i think it's too loose or too tight, i am not sure. it is kind of annoying though, but my old bike did it and i am kinda used to it. but it's getting worse the longer i let it go. and that's not good.

bike itself was 450.00. i have been searching a month or so and found nothing that i wanted with decent components in that price range. they were all either 700-1000. and thats for used. plus the shop is very nice and will probably fix the creaking for free. but i want to learn stuff on my own as well. i spent 30 for a saddlebag, air pump, bike tool, 12 for 2 water bottle cages, 14 for 2 insulated water bottles, 50 for my new aero bars, 20 for my helmet, 15 for gloves, 20 for jersey, 34 for other jersey, 10 for very nice coolmax socks. i know im missing something. oh my computer was like 20 for the bike. so i got about 100 or so in accessories.

i went out and tried to see if i could spot the creaking. my left pedal was loose inside where it was attached so i tightened that. the sound seemed to be coming from the right side so i dont think that was it. my frame is like keyed on the rear but the sound is coming right from the front chain ring on the right side. anyone help?

if your solution for improperly sized aero bars was zip-ties, and if you value your physical well-being, i'd strongly recommend NOT doing repairs yourself

if the noise is coming from your bottom bracket, it's probably not because it's loose. bottom brackets are simple to replace if you're mechanically inclined and if you have the proper tools, but i'd recommend having the shop handle it if that is the problem.

For your own safety and the safety of those around you, please don't use aerobars unless on a wide open pathway with lots of visibility ahead of you.

Inckorrect. Most of teh solid montain bikers use aero bars to go fast down teh trial beacuse it allows them to handel teh trails quickly and fast. Althoug most dont use zip tyes.

well the shop is owned by mennonites. maybe the guy thought i knew more about bikes than he thought and just sold it. i acted overexcited to get it so maybe he didnt bother making any adjustments. the bike is fine though. he replaced that derailluer cable and fixed that whole thing in less than a half hour. trued the wheels as well. i just think the bike was used hard before i got it. the frame is a bit scratched in teh rear wheel, but overall it looks very nice. it rides very nice and i am enjoying it. i have been reading and more than one source told me the clicking is probably from the chain being too dry. i just cleaned it and wanted to wait to use the real bicycle lube on the chain and forgot and just rode today because it was nice. so once i add the chain lube i hope it will be fixed. the crankset is tight i checked that. the chain also rubs against the front derailluer bracket for some reason no matter what i try. i kinda think it might be rattling because of my recent crash. i was going about 13 mph when i crashed, but i shredded the handlebar, and maybe something got loose that is clicking. what do you guys usually do after you crash. how do you know the bike is still safe to ride? i re attached the front wheel quicksnap and thats all i really saw that would have needed fixed. it fell on the left side so the right side derailluer shouldnt be messed up. oh well i will just wait. ill install my aero bars and lube the chain and hopefully everything will be good.

oh and the tires don't have an upper weight limit, the pounds it references is the maximum pounds per square inch (psi) that you can inflate them to. I'm sure many people heavier than you have ridden those tires.
