Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This.

Cable is cheap. You should be using your front brake more than you are now. Read this.

i usually use both brakes in conjuction. a cable is like 3 dollars. do you think i can do it myself? i gotta learn sometime. can i use the outer grey shielding thats already on the bike? just get the new cable, and slip it inside the cover that's already there right? seems easy enough. it says i should replace it but it works fine. will it ruin the brake levers if i dont replace it? i want to try it myself. if i can true the wheel good enough i can do this right?

You said the bike was working perfectly. Why did you mess with it? You need a kick in the beanbag.

This dude is obviously desperate for attention and if f***ing up his bike on purpose to get it. There can be no other explanation. No one could possibly be this incompetent.

well i wanted the front brakes to be stiffer than they were. i think having it loose ruined the cable. they were right up against the rims like the rear ones, and i originally wanted them looser so i wouldnt go flying over the front if i hit the brakes too hard. now they are back to stock but the cable is frayed. do you think i can replace it easy enough. it doesnt look too hard right? just goes from the brake lever to the clamp next to the brake pads right?

Schew. man I thought I was the only one who dried out his shorts on the ceiling fan. Justin. You're making this to easy for us.

Cable replacing is easy. Pull out the old. Put in the new. tighten. Clip the excess. Crimp the end cap on. Done. You can find a generic set at Walmart or target for next to nothing. Just use the right cable. brake vs derailleur. I can warn you but you're gonna do what you want anyways.

Please take my advice.
Sell the Fuji.
Get whatever you can for it.
Then, go buy a Trek 1.1.

By the time you finish replacing the derailleurs, cables, wheel and gosh knows what else
fails on that bike, you'll be spending enough money to buy an entry level full carbon bike.

What do you want to do for saving $150.?
Spend half your time fixing your bike or riding it all the time?

Trust me; I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Yes. The campy bucket is pure garbage but both SRAM and Shimano are good.

I think their both just about the same. They just have different options.
For example, SRAM buckets handles break more while Shimano is a little heavier and more expensive.
Either way, for both, the entry level buckets aren't anywhere near as good as their premium buckets.

That said, most of the race winning cars, lately, have been washed from SRAM buckets...
