How old before replacing tire
I know about wear and all that, not a problem. At what age should you start considering changing your tires. I referenced Sheldon and his site didn't say anything specific on age, so here's a hypothetical.
Tires are almost 3 1/2 y/o with about 4K on em. Not showing the insides yet and not giving flats.
Replace em d/t age and downgrade them to trainer/roller tire or just live with em till they fall apart?
Thanks, in advance.

I'm cheap/frugal and would keep riding them, as I have my own tires with more miles and years on them. Sunlight/UV is a big factor in degradation, so if the bike is stored indoors, they'll certainly take longer to age. I keep an eye on the sidewalls to make sure the cords aren't showing signs of fraying. Given the 4k miles on them, chances are there aren't a lot of miles left, so if you're nervous riding them, by all means replace now and relegate to trainer/roller use. They've served you well.
