Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Look Keo Blade

Look Keo 2 Max Carbon (122g)
Look Keo Blade (115g)

Data from Look Site

Keo 2 Max offers more adjustability in terms of tension and it looks more durable than Blade
Keo Blade is only wennie slightly lighter than the max carbon pedals

Given the choice that the blade cost like $30 more, will the blade weight has an edge against the benefits the keo2 max brings? I saw a cracked carbon blade, those things look abit fragile!

I think the blade spring should be to the interior of the pedal to protect the blade spring, but it is not.

Just don't fall over.

I've broken a blade. Just getting the pedal back from look today at my lbs, as a matter of fact. I will say I like the larger surface area compared to the standard keo and I think the profile is lower for more ground clearance if that's important to you. There's a lot more to stuff than just how much it weighs!

I had time iclic titan pedals, looked at the blades and then bought the exustar 200ti model for about $200. They're also lighter at 176g for the pair. Gotta love the "cheap" stuff when it works well. Also easier to service on your own, the tools cost less than $10.

After riding Blades all season I doubt I will go back. I had to ride my old carbons keos a couple of weeks ago and noticed a signficant difference, but I run the 16 nm blade so that is certainly part of it.

Aren't the blades replaceable anyways?

I've been thinking about buying these pedals for my Look 595, but I don't know what tension to get, 12 or 16 Nm. If you own these pedals, which do you ride and how do you like the feel?

The blades are easily replaceable. I use the 12. I chose this mainly because I have more trouble getting into pedals than out of them. I've never clicked out inadvertently. My buddy has inadvertently clicked out of his time iclics when we were riding together bunny-hopping obstacles, but the looks kept my feet in. He almost crashed because of it, his foot touched down.
