Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sunday morning at Bass Lake, IN. Was a great morning ride, no one on the rode besides a few other bikes and there wasn't a need to slow or stop. Had one of my better rides at 8.3 miles but a steady 17.2 mph avg.

1) We never get summer rain storms in SoCal, but as soon as you say never.....
2) The bike shop parking lot needs better drainage.

White Water Canal, Metamora Indiana

Wife and I took the day off and did some trail riding by a abandoned section of the White Water Canal that use to link Cincinnati to some smaller towns in south east Indiana. This is the remains of one of the locks.

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and thought I'd share a picture of my new build on a recent ride. The photo is taken in Sagem's Head in CT, just off route 146, which is very popular route for local cyclists.

The bike was built from a frame which I managed to get at a great price. Most of the other components were either pulled off my existing bike, or also bought at a discount. I've ended-up with a bike I love at a price I can afford.

Also worth mentioning, the bike was put together at a time when I was unable to ride, so getting out in the sunshine and being able to put in some miles on this bike is a wonderful feeling!

Andrew

Hills be steep, yo. That's actually on 48/25 (2-3) so the chainline is pretty straight. From where we were staying for the weekend to that point at Mammoth Creek was an 800ft elevation gain in about 3.5 miles. Like I said, hills be steep.
