Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

They never stop. But if you train harder, you'll get fast enough to not hear them.

Depends on the generation. Or at least until we have another American dominate the TdF, or a change in the American cycling culture.

this too shall pass...

it wasn't all that long ago that one still heard an occasional "hippy" this or that if one had long hair and a beard. it's pretty much died out now that george carlin passed away. but it had a good run. about 40 years or so...

I had two drunk college guys on the 3rd floor balcony of a beach rental on my weekday training route yell at me from above: "Hey Lance! The Tour's over! GO HOME!!". I just laffed. I figured if they started laffing too maybe they'd fall off the balcony and break something.

If you can make out what teenagers are yelling, you're going too slow.

I dont wear jerseys or team kits so I've been spared.

I don't wear hoodies or jeans on my road bike either so hopefully, I'm still safe.

I had two teenage girls at one of those gas station carwashes calling at me yesterday. "We can wash bikes too. I like your hair." Awkward cos it was a red light.

One time on the end of the local Saturday ride, about 20 of us were leisurely riding through downtown towards the shop, and a homeless guy started yelling "This ain't France! This ain't France!"

I think he was just mad we were riding through his living room.

For the next month, homeless people will yell at me to take my clothes off, thanks to the Fremont Solstice Parade.

it'll stop when you start running and then everyone yells 'Run Forrest, Run!' at you. I've only been called Lance twice. Usually I get called worse, or better, depending on how you feel about him.

Move to the Vail Valley, following all the other MN people that have. Problem solved. Too many riders to yell anything at.
