Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Waiting until something breaks

So, after a year of cycling, I've gathered a few items. I've even picked up some modern clipless pedals and abandoned my classic Look pedals. I've gotten a modern bike. HELL, I got aero bars.

The LIST
Cateye Mikey
Aero bars
4 saddles
A few regular pedals, and 1 pair clipless SPARES
Saddle bag
Blinkies galore
5 pairs of bibs, 9 jerseys, and 1 china Raleigh team knockoff.
Spare tubes, CO2, patch kits, pegs, links, 2 sets of krylons.
86' Ironman Expert retired
07' Specialized Allez
01' Raleigh R600

The list goes on, as I'm sure you know. Lately, I've been riding more and more, and then this evil Nashbar magazine shows up. It's only a matter of time before my cycling subscriptions start piling in.

What's next? Am I almost done until I get that fancy SL3? Tell me it's nearly OVER. My bank must think I've been smoking crack based on the withdrawals this month alone.

EDIT : And now the ad to my right is for the GoPRO cam. Am I really that self involved? I need to call my mother...

Training plan, training journal, bike computer which downloads to training software like WKO+ or Golden Cheetah, power meter, Campagnolo components because they make colors brighter and go to 11...

I don't know what the point of this thread is. So I'll make it an opportunity to ask this: What is your "Challenge Accepted"?

Would you say a power or cadence meter is an essential to your bikes? Would you train without one/know anyone who does?

That's what I'm afraid of, the impending doom of square footage.

It's a disease and the only thing that will cure it is more cow...err...bike stuff.
