Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks like a snooze-fest. I'll be sure to avoid it.

I heard from coasting earlier in the week: he's still kicking, though not cycling. Apparently he will wait to bring one of his bikes from the UK in a few months.

I'm probably not at liberty to disclose details, but he also sought my advice on dealing with the ladies.

I gave him some pointers.

Friday night. Go to the bars and pick up some nice undergrad summer school student. Maybe she'll be impressed with your degrees.

Maybe go for a different look? Is this how people style in the wildfire/dust bowl states?

We had a big sand storm in AZ this week. I haven't seen anyone dressed like that yet.

Then again, I don't get out much.

Also, as I sit here on the porch, I can hear a bagpiper playing. Not necessarily what one expects to hear in the desert.

One of the benefits of being self-employed and self-contained. I can do this and still be "in the office."

I hope you weren't the one who was forecasting 125,000 new jobs last month. Ouch.

I should have recommended that coasting try out online dating

Went on a mission to get my Exile Bike today. Picked up this old Nashbar touring bike (or what's left of it).

And replace a spoke.

Maybe someday he'll return when his social exploits crash and burn. He said he went to see a movie when a "hot" female asked if he wanted to come along. Then he ended up stewing through most of it because he paid so much to see an "American propaganda" film.

How's aqua biking going?

First ride on the Exile Bike. It was only about 100 degrees. I still drank 2 full Big Chill bottles in just under 2 hours.

Thanks to DNA Cycles for taking care of the broken spoke.
