Thousand mile month
Who wants to sign up for the thousand mile month challenge? You are only eligible if you have never done a 1k mile month. Good month for it, 31 days, long weekend to start the month. Go for it. So far after 3 days(2 riding) I'm at 120 miles. That's an average of 40 per day. To make 1000 for the month average needs to be 32.26.

After 7 days, 239 miles, average just above 34 miles per day. 48 miles yesterday, 102 at the start. With the weekend coming up, average mileage should go up.

This is the perfect month for it, despite the weather. Started with a long holiday weekend, last two days of the month are saturday and sunday, so it really just comes down to going into that weekend, how bad do you want it?

My high-mileage months haven't come from riding 34 miles every single day, but from doing a bunch of long randonneuring rides in there, too. I've had several thousand-mile months this year, and just set a new personal best this month at 1,458 miles or so. And, it's been 29 consecutive days that it hit 100 degrees, too. I've almost got as many miles so far this year as I did in all of 2010.
