Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This should work right? How will the shifiting be? I am building up a budget bike and I already have an extra force bb30 crankset. I can get a new 105 group cheaper than a rival group. Thanks

It'll work fine, as long as you set it up correctly you won't notice any difference from any other good crankset.

Dunno, I use 105 cassettes and KMC chains, but as long as it's all 10 speed it'll work fine.

Nope, stick with the Shimano chain and cassette. They will work just fine with the Sram crank and many think Shimano cassettes shift better.

BTW, 105 5700 is amazing for the money. I have Force on my bike now but have nothing bad to say about the performance of the 5700 when I was using it. If I didn't get the Force stuff for $0, I would have been perfectly happy with the 105.

Im not comparing rival group to 105 5700 paired with a force bb30. I heard that the rival group is half the weight of 5700 105??

There is a good idea. Rival works great and is lighter than 105. Heck, it's lighter than Ultegra. You can't go wrong with Rival group with a Force crank. The Force crank is a bit lighter than the Rival, and looks great. Rival cranks look kind of crappy IMHO.
